Pokémon Heart & Soul has a QoL feature for Raikou & Entei; they growl and their sprites dash across the map upon entering their spawn area. Even so, I save-scummed. It was hard enough catching them with save-scumming! I have no idea how we coped with them in the GameBoy Color games...

Took some grinding but Elite Four is kill. Now into Kanto and "post-game" if you can call it that. I forgot how much the world opens up at this point. Getting a bit of pokéburnout! Heart & Soul has wild and trainer pokémon at high levels in Kanto (40+) so it's a different vibe to HGSS.

Oh, I never had one of those, not for Pokémon Go either. I didn't own a DS and only got to play HeartGold on PC emu, not the comfiest experience tbh. Playing it on GBA emu on Wii instead is a lot more fun.

Running around Johto grinding up levels with EXP Share on the five Gen 1+2 starter pokémon that I caught on victory road. Also I caught Celebi :o !! I think Heart & Soul is the goat pokémon now tbh, finally a pokémon game where I can actually catch 'em all as I was promised.

from my perspective: it's non-commercial, open source, genAI use is fully disclosed, there are no bogus motivations behind it, and it's highly accurate & works well (high CPU usage aside!) if you want to give it a miss and wait more decades for an alternative, that's up to you, but I'm satisfied.

it's no secret, tho i think you can see exactly what the claude commits did/what genai was used for. but if 5% genai use is 5% too much, it's fair that it be clearly signposted so you can decide not to use the software at all

yep, over half of all fatal foraged mushroom poisonings worldwide are because of death caps. they look and smell edible and aren't uncommon yet are horribly toxic, it's like a cruel joke that something like that exists.

it is a truly wonderful development, I still can't quite believe it finally happened. careful though, Claude is in the commits ;D but I think it would be a stretch to call this "vibecoded" at least, based on my admittedly limited understanding of such things.

This has been updated and improved daily since it dropped. I'm using a Core i3 2100 so it runs like ass except the offline renderer, but with the latest update it's just about usable for me as a live midi player. In terms of accuracy though, it's almost transparent to the original hardware.

I didn't get to play Zelda 1 until BS Zelda on Zsnes, or arguably the Collector's Edition Disc on GameCube. Never had an NES :C but I had a Master System so at least I got to play "We have The Legend of Zelda at home" in Golden Axe Warrior - it's a legitimately decent Zelda clone tho!

a while ago I did everything short of account deactivation - made absolutely everything that I could on there visible only to me, a closed book. no idea if that's truly enough to avoid "ai cloning" as my legacy photos are still on there, though.

I lost several hours of progress on Pokémon Heart & Soul because VBAGX goofed and failed to write the battery save to the SD card, despite multiple saves during gameplay. Not impressed, though I suppose you get what you pay for ... I will be using save states from now on.

Shiny rate is set to 1/512 which I think is 16x more common than vanilla GSC/HGSS, yet I am as far as Gyarados Lake and still haven't encountered one! Not a complaint, they should be rare, just maybe not "play the game every day for a year and maybe you will see one" rare. Otherwise, loving this.

Things bugging me: - Trainer battles are purely random, ironically making them samey rather than novel. No themed gyms. - Pokémon spawns locations are illogical (purely random) - As aforementioned no pokédex for most of them; takes the thrill/incentive out of catching.

Gonna start fresh with Pokémon Heart & Soul. I beat four gyms, but I am catching so many pokémon and grinding them endlessly just because there are so many available with the rando. Thinking it might be more fun to play this with the rando off, especially as most of them lack pokédex entries.
