Metroid Dread, one of my favourite games ever, has its 5 year anniversary today. Being a Fusion girlie, I've been waiting for its sequel for a long long time, being the biggest gaming-related dream I've ever had. I still feel so lucky being able to play it. I've cherished it for many playthroughs💕

Really cool to hear you played it! Saw that you were interested in Ravenous but I didn't expect you to play Dread (the game, not the weapon gpjhgftdyr) I'm curious about one thing: Did you at some point get stuck in this room? (pictured) It's such an infamous room lmao

POV: You just beat Metroid Ravenous. You tear up as you listen to the credits roll, and you wonder how an experience can be so profound. Your heart beats quick, the goosebumps come, and then you see... *them*.

Briefly dreamt about Ravenous having a trailer on Nintendo Today (I know, lmao.) and I saw this new UI below the health bar that showed: -a location of interest you've marked -the latest ability you've acquired -area name (which was what the trailer was titled for) Shit was wild

Not a lot of Metroids did this, but I always loved how Echoes made Save Stations in beautiful rooms that were sometimes interconnected with the world 🥰 (screenshot from noclip.website)

Concept for a simple Speed Booster puzzle in Ravenous that teaches the player what you can do with the Speed Booster ^^

I did these without being able to see. Ravenous could ABSOLUTELY make these more advanced (while also having easy Speed Booster puzzles in the mix as well)

the mini-map in Ravenous feels more crammed in but it's due to Samus's icon being bigger. Doors are 3x3 in both games, and they have the same size on the mini-map

Image with text that says: Demo Available.
Below the text is a strange creature consisting of a scorpion tail, an abdomen with exposed rib bones, two muscular arms, and a head with 8 glowing eyes.

It sounds like a dog, and the dog looks excited for the fact that a Demo is Available

people respect my Metroid knowledge a lot and I love being evil about it
Text that says:
Oh my god.

you know how blocks emit a specific hum in Metroid Dread?

In Metroid Ravenous, I hear the block emiting the hum for a specific ability.

End of text. I later admit that I made that fact up.

here's how I would vaguely outline the post Fusion story
Metroid Dread begins:
Samus Aran is sent to planet ZDR after receiving a shocking video that suggests the X parasites still exist. Samus is the only person immune to them, and has to take the mission.

The X parasites has the ability to take over an entire planet, but due to how they came to the planet, the leader called Raven Beak was able to contain them in a small area.

Most of the story beats are kept the same, but after the X escapes containment, a cutscene showing a friendly character being defeated by them is removed or made shorter so that the game could be more tense storywise.

Biggest change is how Raven Beak now uses a vaccine out of Samus' cell culture, which contains Metroid DNA, which makes him immune to the X. Because of it, Raven Beak now undergoes some physical changes to more closely resemble a Metroid. He leaves planet ZDR, and it along with the X is destroyed forever.

Metroid 6 begins (which is currently not a game that has been released nor announced):

Samus chases Raven Beak, but he has gotten even stronger.

In the middle of the hypothetical game, Samus leaves the planet she finds him in, and finds a different settlement which reverts her Metroid DNA so that she can wield the Ice Beam, which can effectively counter Metroids.

She uses this power to defeat Raven Beak

I usually use the exact same terminology as a given game does, but I think the fan term "Wide Beam Monolith" goes so much harder than the official term "Wide Beam Box"
Dramatic recreation of the Wide Beam Monolith as it is presented on the map for Metroid Dread. Its dimensions are 3 meters in length and 4 meters in height.

It contains three lightbulbs arranged vertically, which lights up and activates its core mechanism, horizontal movement, once each of these lightbulbs detect energy from the Wide Beam simultaneously

Digital art drawn on Splatoon 3. The canvas is 320 pixels wide by 120 pixels tall.

The top half of the canvas is text that says "the only straight part of me is the Angle Shooter". The bottom half of the canvas contains two drawn pictures. The left picture includes two feminine individuals, each with a long hair that is braided together with the opposite person's hair. The right picture contains a drawing of the Angle Shooter in action, which is a line marker that, when used in-game, travels in a long, linear path that may bounce when hitting objects. It is prominently used to locate opposing players, but may be used to deal a finishing blow from a far if the enemy is weak enough

I think the L button in Splatoon could be used to communicate with people instead of the D-pad, and it should have a radial menu with multiple options (6 or 8) that are context sensitive as well 😇

the placement of this Autsharp feels like smth I'd see in Mario Maker lol
Screenshot of the video game called Metroid Dread.

The player character is in a chamber holding onto a ledge that leads to a tunnel. In front of the tunnel is an enemy called Autsharp, which spawns from the ground and looks quite a lot like a sawblade made out of pure electric energy

For those wondering — It would look like this! /ragebait
The profile picture of this user is arranged in an array with a honeycomb pattern, with an added effect of the camera rendering it in a fisheye-lens. This is not how the compound eyes of insects and shrimps actually work, which is rather that those honeycomb-like cones form a larger picture together. The result is blurrier than that of the sight of a human, but it's a very compact way to achieve vision from.

Image of Metroid Prime's Boost Ball in action, with the Spanish title Turbosfera. Samus can turn her self into a sphere called Morph Ball (Morfosfera in Spanish), and the Boost Ball lets her launch herself forward with great spead, which is handy to move fast or gain height on half pipes

Yeah Zelda is deffo more appropriate esp. with the top-down perspective! I just remember feeling like cutting trees were the Pokémon equivalent to Morph Ball Bombs lmfao As a kid I saw the FR/LG credits scene and thought, "wtf is Red running bcs the facility is exploding". Pic related.

When Rotom Dex was a thing I always wanted to use it as a Pokémon. It is so cute lol Supposedly it would be a pure Electric type
Illustration of Rotom in its Pokédex Form.

A trainer is seen on the left. They are pointing towards a Pokécenter that is up a hill to the right. The Rotom is in the middle of the illustration, and it has a screen that shows GPS-like map of the surrounding area.

Why I desperately want Fresh Squiffer to get Ink Vac
Image showing how Fresh Squiffer with Ink Vac would counter an annoying strategy. A weapon is using Booyah Bomb, which grants an armor that is nearly impossible to break alone. The Booyah Bomb needs to be charged however, and the Ink Vac can immediately suck up the bomb.

Additionally, the Fresh Squiffer is usually equipped with a Suction Bomb, which explodes two seconds after touching the ground.

With this toolset, it is not only possible to remove the threat of a Booyah Bomb, but the Booyah Bomb user will also be defeated by the Suction Bomb, which they deserve to be for using this annoying strategy since late 2022

Nothing groundbreaking but the JP version of the Winds & Waves logo has something on it that might be a new gimmick or a story element, like how Gen 9 had a Tera Crystal or Gen 8 had the Galar League logo implemented
The Japanese Pokémon logo is rendered in bold, blocky, and sharp strokes. It has a pearlescent texture to it.

Resting on the top right of the first character is an icon that looks like a Pokéball, which is made up of two jolts of lighthing that connects to each other, forming an arch and an elliptic gleam of light in the middle

a tweet from Oliy implied there was a Squeezer + Zipcaster level on story mode and omg I get to try out that combination!!
Screenshot of Splatoon 3 weapon selection for a story mode level.

World 4, Level 5, titled: Amusing a Bemused Muse.
Objective: Aim Carefully and copy the template.

The player can pick between three options:
A champagne bottle that works like a gun.
A washing machine that lobs a ball of ink.
A water gun that has the shape and functionality of a sniper.

Below the weapon selection is a text that describes the objective further:

In this mission, you will zip around with Zipcaster to break crates and recreate the shape shown on the left. End of description.

The Zipcaster is a special weapon that lets you stretch your arm at long distances as a way to move yourself to that location.
