The SNP appear most in tune with electorate - 32% of Scots consider their plans for Scotland to be ‘about right’. Views on Scottish Labour’s plans are more evenly split, whereas Reform UK’s plans are most likely to be considered too radical.

The SNP are the only party whose campaign receives an overall ‘net’ positive rating. Reform UK & the Scottish Conservatives seen as having had the worst campaigns so far. But, many of the public are uncertain/indifferent about how well the parties’ campaigns are going.

But votes aren’t locked in yet. With a month to go, 42% of Scots say they might still change their mind on who to vote for on their constituency vote (compared to 25% in April 2021). 42% also say they may still change their mind on their regional list vote (32% in April 2021).

6. Confidence in police and the justice system has declined slightly since 201/25 (49% thought they were doing an excellent / good job in 2024/25, compared to 45% in 2021/22). However, most still feel safe in their communities (76% feel safe walking alone in their local area after dark).

5. Around half (49%) of all crimes experienced in 2024/25 were fraud and computer misuse. 11.5% of adults had experienced these types of crimes in the last 12 months. The most common type of fraud experienced was bank and credit card fraud.

4. There has been a notable increase in violent crime experienced in the workplace over recent years – 46% of violent crime took place in the victim’s workplace in 2024/25, compared to 32% in 2019/20 and 23% in 2008/09.

The top issue that the Scottish public say will be very important to how they vote in May remains healthcare/the NHS (56%). Compared to Ipsos’ previous poll in December, inflation/the rising cost of living is down 6 points, while immigration is down 5 points.

40% may change their mind on who to vote for on their constituency vote (higher than the 31% who said same in Feb 2021). Those who currently say they’ll vote Reform UK or SNP are less likely to say they will change their vote than those currently planning to vote Labour or Conservative.
