There is a malaise of the soul. Lots of contributors, making it difficult to diagnose. imo the world is in a bad place right now, affecting the mental state of people. Distraction from brain fatigue. Alleviated by dopamine via videos, posts, and AI LLMs. I've noticed some of this w/ me, at least.

I've been working on easing off it for three months. I tried to get off entirely last month, but these same withdrawal effects made it a bad idea. Doc gave me something to ease the transition and a month later, I'm trying again. it really hardly feels better this time, though.

following up my child posting with the admission that having these two kids has led to the most crushing isolation (and depression) of my life. no time or means for anything that doesn't resolve around them. Even my relationship with my wife is strained. I sure hope it magically gets better!

I'm doing almost sort of ok I'm just feeling down. And a lot of my time with friends was through a ttrpg I run, which started to feel more like work than fun just to be social. But everything feels like it has a big barrier to just hang out in a meaningful way. I'll look into brawl for deadlock

Taking a break from running TTRPG games has given me mixed feelings. I love playing them, but I put too much of myself into prepping and I have limited time. But minimal prep feels like a disservice to the players, and I have a lot less fun. Having a hard time convincing myself to run games again.
