I wonder why we do not have a repository for wasm components and their wit based descriptions, like we have mvnrepository etc for the jvm world. Does anyone know of such an effort? wkg already allows to upload in an OCI compatible style. What would be required now, is to make this searchable […]

I recently posted that I created a WIT mode for emacs, now a mode for Webassembly Composition files (WAC) followed. Read more here: www.reddit.com/r/WebAssembly/commen… #webassembly #wasm #wit #wac #emacs #treesitter

I like #webassembly, #wasm, the component model, #wit (webassembly interface types) and #emacs. Hence I wrote an treesitter based emacs mode for WIT files. The lack if support for it drove me crazy. Give it a shot (currently a manual install is required, a melpa package is planned) […]

The webpage from Stephen Diehl: "What I wish I knew when learning Haskell" was always a great resource for learners. However it was for a long time not accessible and only available by internet archives. So I am glad that it is back online: sdiehl.github.io/wiwinwlh #haskell […]

Is anyone using ocicl as a systems manager in Common Lisp? Have a look at github.com/ocicl/ocicl - I only discovered it now, but it seems to be slightly more modern than quicklisp and it is actively maintained. #commonlisp #asdf #lisp

Coalton is a typed language build on top of CommonLisp, which takes inspiration from Haskell, Scheme and Ocaml. It supports type classes and in general is fairly enjoyable to use as it integrates well into the existing Lisp tool support. I wrote a small optics library with it (WIP) […]

Recently I came across a discussion on LinkedIn, where the creator claimed that many successful projects to not use TDD. This created a riot, with many people pointing out that the mentioned projects had tests, so that the claim was invalid, completely ignoring the fact that having tests and […]

Using crates.io/crates/clap to do CLI argument parsing in #rust is really a breeze. A very enjoyable experience.

When I use cargo component new to build a CLI component for Rust/Wasm/Wit, the cargo component build step will automatically translate a main function to .e.g. wasi:cli/run or println! statements to the according stream functions from the wasi world. With wasm-tools component wit I can even […]

Though I am german and live in Germany, I made it a habit to support @guardian - having lived in the UK for around 6 years I always enjoyed the newspaper (then still on paper), and I admire that all the articles are kept free for everyone. Being able to gather information from various sources is […]

GraalVM (Finally) Gets Java for WebAssembly
Up until now, Java has been neglected, as WebAssembly modules have been more conducive with C and C++, Rust and Go, and now even Python is embedded as an interpreter.

Tomorrow we have a small #Rust gathering in Hamburg, Germany. From 1800 to 2100 roughly. It is more a show and tell format. Deliberately so that we are all more engaged and the hurdle to demonstrate something is kept small. If you are interested send me a PM.

I am still having fun with #rust, @moonbitlang the #spin framework (developer.fermyon.com/spin/v3/index) and kubernetes. Deployed a WebAssembly application (admittedly a toy app) written in #Rust with the #Leptos framework, to K8s in an 8Mb container without any size tuning. I believe […]

ttl.sh is an ad hoc docker registry which you can use without login and push images to, which will be deleted again after a certain amount of time. That makes it ideal as a playground when experimenting with containers. I really loved using it. #docker #registry #testing

It was not really on my radar, but since my interest in Webassembly increased, I have been working more and more with Rust. So far I really like it, a nice language, excellent libraries and briliant tooling. And wasm support out of the box. #rust #webassembly #wasm

Whixh search engine would you recommend - should abide EU laws, not prone to influence by US tech giants and ideally be driven by doing something good instead of doing something for profit?
