Finding out what the heck is wrong with our planet since 2005. I like astronomy as well. He/they, I have ASD, amateur artist trying to post more art, follow if you like it :) Discord: @inverse5040 Deviantart: Inverse5040

TBH I never had a twitter account, after John Rectanglehead bought it I was sort of hoping that everyone on that platform would instantly leave it, twitter would no longer get enough web traffic to support itself and his $40 Billion investment would vanish into ash

QRP with your moon art #ArtTrain
A drawing of the Mun from KSP, with the mun illuminated from the left, in waning gibbous phase.

I guess in my case it would be "QRP with your mun art".

WASP-76b and a hypothetical moon around it. Despite this planet being described as having a glory effect, I decided not to include it. Collab with @inverse5040.bsky.social! His post: bsky.app/profile/inve..., check it out! #Astronomy #Space#Planet #Exoplanet

Been a while since I posted art here. This is the Ultra-Hot Jupiter WASP-76 (A)b, known for its ferrous rain and glistening skies (citation needed). Collab with @birbbirbbirb1.bsky.social, go check out his page! #Astronomy #Art #Digitalart #Space #Stars #Exoplanets #Planets
A depiction of the ultra-hot Jupiter WASP-76b, a planet with a beige surface as a result of Iron vapors absorbing blue light. The atmosphere has a high scale height, producing what appears to be a bloom surrounding the planet. The high temperatures this planet experiences result in an equatorial jet bringing superheated air to the night side of the planet, giving it an orange-hot glow. The whole planet is deformed into a slightly oblong shape due to its extreme proximity to its parent star, WASP-76A.A simple size comparison of the two stars in the WASP-76 system, for reference. The larger one on the left is WASP-76A, an aging F-type star likely packing up its things in preparation to leave the main sequence. In the middle is the Sun included for reference, a G2-main sequence star, and on the right is the smaller companion. Not much is known about it as of now.

Also reminds me vaguely of a dream I had a while ago where there was a planet that was somehow actually a giant orange, and it was home to an advanced civilization, but they were doomed (and knew it) because their orange planet was slowly rotting, I watched buildings sink as the ground softened

Super messed up if we lost something as obviously a common good collectively owned by all of humanity as the Moon to this kind of irresponsibility, like there'd be cultures that revere the Moon as a teller of fortune and fate suddenly notice it "rotting". In other words, great SF concept 👍

This reminds me of SCP-1941, which is almost this exact concept, the only two differences are that factory is extraterrestrial in origin (not anthropogenic), and that it has a failsafe, namely a very large integer that if factorized will halt the factory's growth I'm not even that into SCP lol

Maybe if instead of a vine it was instead a giant tree (or a vine that climbed up a tree) growing suspended gourds, but they'd still rot if internal pipes broke. And we'd have to hook water pipes and powerlines to all of them, it would be hard I like earthen houses we should go back to those

Inverse 5040 @inverse5040.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I would be worried about the gourd houses rotting, sure birdhouse gourds can be dried out and don't rot, as can drinking gourds, but they can mold if water isn't cleared away fast enough. Birdhouses are suspended while such a larger gourd would be touching the soil, letting rainwater seep underneath

I'm reminded of that scene from a comic book I read as a kid a really long time ago (I believe it was Mal and Chad maybe) where the kid plants a daisy seed he genetically engineered, and the flower points down and grows very big petals so he can use it as a tent

Unfortunately this seems to be an outdated concept and can't be done, at least not with SLS as we're getting it in the future, as EUS has been cancelled, and with it block 1b and block 2. Also, these probes would just be flybys, not orbiters like the planned ODINUS probes.

I can't imagine that having an incomprehensibly powerful primitive force of the universe squeezing my fermions together until their nature to take up space is overcome and they're forced to collapse down to the same point and lose their defining characteristics would be painless

"Mortgully: The Last Rickforest" is an allegory for a massive tax strike where everyone lives off grid, stops working and buying things, and forgoes their dependence on currency to grow food for each other until the government loses its ability to enforce laws everyone else is wrong

Not to mention all of the bullcrap with how much of the money the AI companies get as "investment" is actually peoples' retirement funds being stolen... Modern AIs are super dangerous and not that practical, so companies lose money and HAVE to steal. Luckily, the fed wants a spy AI really badly...

How are your extrasolar heliophysics posts so comprehensive? Like how do you find all these papers and interpret them so well, it's almost like a look into an alternate future where we sent actual probes to these stars to study them up close...

the multi-billion dollar company probably doesn't actually care that much about seeing its mascot's eyes pecked out by crows as long as they can still pull in an entire nation's GDP worth of nitro subs in a year

I'm thinking of that one time Hubble observations supposedly strongly indicated an atmosphere on TRAPPIST-1b... only for JWST observations to completely rule it out a little while later.

Also something like wars your country/people have fought in would definitely get better protections than something like mass displacement of natives or slavery... A historian who studies a site once sacred to indigenous people, watching it decay after a new administration removed protections

I feel like a common fallacy would result in some countries that don't attempt to prevent their history from rotting, like "my country has no interesting major historical events so we don't see a need for anti-metafungus initiatives"

does it overwrite peoples' memories and possibly use its presence in their mind from their early life as a means to extract a tiny part of their consciousness as sustenance would it cause dementia-like symptoms, or if it acts like some fungi that allow trees to share resources, dissociative ID

Two artworks in one day? The harvest is bountiful this season. Left: the star Vega, not attempted true color (I just used an off-the-shelf blackbody calculator for the color and eyeballed how much darker the equator would be) Right: Granules and starspots greatly exaggerated to be visible.
A digital drawing of the fast-spinning A-type star Vega (Alpha Lyrae). Limb and equatorial darkening are not indicative of reality. Color only approximate.A digital drawing of Vega again, but with surface features (starspots and granules) greatly exaggerated. Equatorial and limb darkening not indicative of reality, color only approximate.
