Aid funding cuts are closing clinics in Sudan. That doesn't mean less patients. That means people are pushed to reach medical care further away, on more expensive and dangerous journeys. It doesn't have to be this way. Sudan needs the world to act now, not later.

During my visit to Darfur, Sudan, I met @msf.org colleagues at Zalingei hospital, where drone strikes regularly occur just outside the walls. During mass casualty events, they work under intense pressure to save lives. The world must not look away from the conflict in Sudan.

I visited Zalingei Teaching hospital in Central Darfur, Sudan, earlier this month. The hospital had been bombed and looted and I was proud to see the work that our teams had achieved in restoring healthcare to people – something that should never have been lost.

In 2014, I visited eastern DRC, where @msf.org teams were treating sleeping sickness - the only available treatment was a drug so toxic it killed 1 in 20 patients. In 2026 I'm so proud that, thanks to @dndi.org, patients can be cured with a single dose of a groundbreaking new oral drug, acoziborole.

My colleague Hussein was a dedicated nurse and father. Yesterday, he died of injuries from an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. Our thoughts are with Hussein’s wife and young children. His killing isn't a tragic accident, it's unacceptable proof that no one is safe from genocide.
