Same sweater, four faces. I started this Annabelle Sweater in January. All the details are in my project page on Ravelry (in bio), but basically it's Fibre Co. Lore plus mohair. Nobody had made this except the designer! And it wasn't supposed to be patterned all over, but I loved the pattern. 🧶
The knitter modeling a buttonless cardigan with polo style neck that stands up. In burgundy background with an alternating fleur-de-lis block in variegated teal blues.

For the yarn dyers! Is it possible to speckle-dye NSW (nonsuperwash) fingering wool?? I don't see NSW for sale much. Does the heat process ruin it? I'm not finding what I want online. Wanted to maybe try it myself with Cascade 220 fingering NSW, but not if it's going to ruin the yarn. 🧶

Survey! 1. Have you ever knit a sweater with sock yarn? 2. What size needle did you use?? 3. How long did it take??? Before I embark on absolute foolishness! 🦥🧶

Finished a pair of Yin/Yang mittens in alpaca boucle. I never would have done this with this yarn, other than I had a moratorium on buying more yarn. 🧶 😂 Do not recommend.

Diona Tee (Longsleeve sweater version). Took me over a year because of discontinued yarn, then later found a couple sources pop up so I could finish the sleeves! Pattern by Sari Nordlund. Yarns are The Fibre Company Acadia in Thistle, and Dream in Color Suzette in Plum. Both discontinued. #knitsky
A long-sleeved purple sweater with cabling all over the front and ribs all along the sides and sleeves. It's fashioned in raglan style with over-long sleeve ends with just a plain bindoff. Cable neck.

For #showmeyourknits stripes week, I present to you Blunk the Hat. It’s two alternating skeins, one of them a gradient. The construction is totally weird. And this one’s huge because I insisted on using worsted. You can find all the details about my projects in my ravelry.. link in bio.
Stripey hat in burgundy and pastel rainbow.

Couldn't decide which shot I liked best, so uploaded all 4. My sweaters take so long that the manufacturers often discontinue the yarn before I finish. That was true with BOTH the yarns I held together on this Diona Tee! But I found more, so the sleeves continue to get longer. Same cables on back.
Knitter with a pixie cut as the 3x model, wearing a raglan crewneck in plum, high neck, with cable antler overlapping pattern down the entire front panel. The sleeves have a K2, P2 rib all the way down to the elbow, where they remain unfinished.

#showmeyourknits Cowls week! I have made so many cowls. Many were gifted. The most difficult was the doubleknit Om Shanti cowl by Owlcat Designs. I lost the first one, so I made another, but it was really a slog! Mistakes were made. I went down a needle 2/3 of the way up and it was perfect.
The blue side of the Om Shanti cowl. Made with Madelinetosh Pashmina in Baroque Violet and Grasshopper, until I ran out of the violet and used Ella Rae something in Ocean. It helped tighten up the top, which made it perfect around the neck. This the old cowl that I lost. This is the reverse Grasshopper side of the Om Shanti cowl. The swahili text is in reverse colors since it's doubleknit, but it's not backwards, because it's complicated! It's not a mirror image like most doubleknits. I do miss this cowl very much, and I made another, but I don't like the colors I chose for the new one :(

#showmeyourknits cables week ~ you got it. This was designed as a tee, but I doubled up on the yarn and it's going to be a sweater. The sleeves are longer now, halfway to the elbow, just no new photo. It's the Diona Tee by Sari Nordlund. And yes, there are mistakes in there! But who could tell??
A purple 2x1 ribbed tee with a mock neck and an intricate cable panel taking up the center portion of the front. The sleeves are on stitch holders. They are raglan style and also knit in 2x1 rib.

Here's a mid-project sneak peek of my progress on Annabelle Cardigan (not my pattern). I want about another 8-10 cm for the sleeves, and then I leave the armpit holes and continue the bottom-up raglan yoke. Anyone have any tips? Never done this type of sweater before. #knitsky
Two colorwork sleeves in progress, variegated blues and teals on a maroon background in a graphic flower motif. The knitter is modeling the lower half of the cardigan, like a tube, and also has the patially-constructed sleeves on her arms to just above the elbows. The uncut steek is shown in the center. It looks tight, but the sweater is actually 56 inches around and after completed will have a button band added. Maker is a size 24 US with a 46" waist. This is the same try-on photo but from an angle that shows the side of the sweater without the steek centerline.

My knitter's choice for #showmeyourknits is the Alexa Sweater I finished in January by designer Wollmuschi. Warmly knitted in Lang Merino+superwash & held with laceweight Cascade Heritage (teal) and Madelinetosh merino light - Lost in Trees (light aqua). www.ravelry.com/projects/spy... #knitting
Knitter is the model, sitting under a spruce tree and looking up into the camera, showing off the yoke of the sweater with its bands of colorwork in hunter green and light sage. The turtleneck is laid out on pine boards dusted with snow and framed by a couple of bare branches. The turtleneck is in the snow on the pine boards, but the bottom parts of the arms have been folded in different directions to reveal snow sticking to the back of it, posed like a person with hand on hip and waving to a friend. The model is the knitter, standing on a dusty clearing next to a tree and looking out at the bay of Green Bay. It is mostly ice at that time of year, January.

Honestly, not the best things I've ever made, but I've got that "both socks done" feeling and I like it. Adjustments were made for ankle and leg swelling.
Cosmos Sock pattern by Laura Menendez. Ribbed socks in variegated stripes of pink, spring green, navy blue, being worn by the knitter, legs crossed and resting on a black sheet with white cabbage roses. The same pair of socks being worn, but photographed from above with legs resting on a rug with big tole painting designs of white daisies on dark gray.

So I researched sock heels, and they all had the basic same shape. I realized that I need to use 75% to 100% of the foot stitches, not 50%, in creating my heel, making a "pivot point" at the bend of the ankle. Luckily, Very Pink already did it with her "sling heel"! 🧶 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bcvt...

So, I can do brights instead of white for #showmeyourknits white & bright week? I have no whites (except for a crochet square)! But bright, I have. I call this my "WildaBeast" cowl, though it's officially an Inspira Cowl with a lining. My winter storm protection cowl. It stands up!
The reverse lining of the cowl is on the outside, which is a single skein of Louise Harding Amitola, I think in Hummingbird. It's a rainbow of bright stripes of hot pink, hot red, fuchsia, lavender, ice blues, royal blue, and plum. The main Inspira Cowl is on the outside, incorporating a lot of stash yarns. Included are Louise Harding Amitola - Dawn, Lion Brand unforgettable in Fuchsia, Jojoland Melody superwash in 3 colorways, Patons classic wool Merino in Jade, and Fibre Company Cumbria in Eden Valley. I used the Mesa Rock configuration in the pattern (there are three options).

I have a question about sock heels. What is the best heel construction if I want the back of the leg tube and the front of the leg tube to be the same height? Meaning, lots of heel curve, I guess. I've done the heel flap recently, and I don't like how low it pulls down the back of the sock. 🧶

Okay, truly, this was terrifying by every step. I ate so much junk stress eating while making this! My brother wanted this for Christmas so I had to! Madison-makes.com, Flyaway Cross Body Bag. #sewing
A crossbody bag in the style of a pigeon. It's quilt-pieced out of cotton solids (except for one piece of purple print around its neck), with gray body, teal and blue and gray head, black and white beak, and white wing with two black stripes going shortways. The eye is a yellow iris around a black pupil, all crocheted in a circle and stitched on. The bag has a gray webbing strap, by which the bag is hanging on the bar of a stashed ironing board resting up right against the wall. Another picture of the same pigeon bag, being worn by the model. Only the model's black turtleneck top is visible in the background. The same pigeon bag, but shown being unzipped. There is a beefy black zipper going from the top of the head down to the tail. The inside is lined in green and teal cotton - green on one side and teal on the other. The maker models the pigeon crossbody bag, wearing her 'catburglar' outfit of black turtleneck and black leggings, with a rose pink beanie from Duluth Trading Company and a pair of large square glasses. She is standing in front of a potted ivy plant with her hands tucked behind her back.

It fits, and I guess that's a win. The full-length ribbing helped it get around my XXW forefoot, and while I'm not a fan of the heel flap/cup style, it worked OK. I added 4 areas of pattern increases. Created a ripple at the top for ease, using 3:1 YOs before 2 more rounds and a regular bindoff. 🧶
The model has her foot resting on the doorjamb of her small workroom, which is wallpapered with pages from The Hobbit. One of the drawings from the illustrated paperback version of Beorn's Hall. The sock is variegated with pinks, greens, and blues. The Cosmos Sock, with a few modifications, by Laura Menéndez. The model is wearing the sock and standing on a black rubber yoga mat to show her forefoot stretching the ribbing out. There is a tiny piece of salt water taffy on the top of the sock that fell there due to the taffy being too old and crackly. That's why it was on sale.

I'm not really a sock person, but here I am making a sock. Cosmos Sock pattern, by Laura Menéndez of Mimosa Cafe Lanar in North Spain. I'm using the Dewpoint (Taupunkt) colorway of Schoppelwolle Edition 3. #knitsky
A self-striping yarn has been knit into a sock, almost finished, lying on a black computer keyboard backlit with teal blue light. The sock is knitted toe-up and is mostly knitted with ribbing, starting just above the toe. The colors are light pink, navy blue, lime green. At the ankle, some increases have been worked in to accommodate some cankles.

A cardi for #showmeyourknits cardi theme this week. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit me anymore. Details in the alt text.
Tideline Cardigan by Hanging Rock Roost - available on Ravelry. The knitter and model is light skinned with a blonde wig, posed holding the cardigan closed at the waist and smiling, photographed from below and backlit by a white ceiling, and wearing a black t-shirt and a faded dusky purple cardigan with rolled edging and a 3" pattern down the sides of the opening. Buttons were in the pattern, but the cardi was too small by the time it was finished to button it up and they were left off. Yarns used in the cardigan were Drops Sky in lavender mix, plus Leading Men Show Stopper in more than one colorway, including Yarn Hoarder, Kaleidoscope and Longstocking.
