Finished playing the original Silent Hill. Don't let the dated graphics or tank controls fool you, this game is a downright masterpiece. First off, Silent Hill's gameplay, while simple, is engaging, and offers plenty of challenge in its combat and puzzle-solving.

I continued playing some more Silent Hill last evening. No matter how many times I replay this game, it always leaves me on edge. It's the sound design that gets me. Like, there's something watching me, but I have no confirmation of it. It increases my paranoia.

It's been a while since I posted about any pre-2000s retro games here, so I started replaying the original Silent Hill. One thing this series has always nailed is the 'liminal space' atmosphere. Whenever I come back to these games, there's always something... 'off' about the environments.

The worst part about revisiting Springtrap & Deliah as an adult is realizing how realistically it portrays a toxic and manipulative relationship, but outright glorifies it. Really makes one wonder if the comic was a confession from its author.

So, I finished watching Season One of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. I had a lot of nostalgia for this show as a kid, and I enjoyed watching it just as much as an adult. I haven't gone far enough into this series to give my full thoughts on it, so I'll gush about some of my favorite characters.

I watched some Happy Tree Friends this afternoon. One of the most cringe-inducing episodes of this series for me is definitely 'Eye Candy'. The sound design is what really sold Toothy's painful and gruesome death. Viewer discretion is absolutely advised.

I'm watching more of The Amazing World of Gumball right now. The general consensus on the show's first season seems to be that it's "just okay", but I actually really like it. While future seasons did improve on the writing and humor, Season One has a distinct charm in its simplicity.

I watched more Ninjago this afternoon, I'm halfway done with Season One. Probably my favorite aspect of this show as a kid was the Serpentine, who serve as the main antagonists in Season 1. Skales was my favorite of the bunch, and as embarrassing as this sounds, I kind of had a crush on him.
