Computers were done at work today so I spent my 9-5 making a papercraft Cinderella birthday 'card' for my best friend. Not bad for something made with office supplies. It tells the whole story as you turn it!

A slightly wonky papercraft model of the scene from the Cinderella story where she runs away and leaves her shoe behind, clearly part of a larger model. It is set on a decorated piece of paper with indistinct cursive writing.

Plus you're supporting an independent artist! What's not to love?

Advice to anyone who doesn't know what gift to buy someone who has everything they need: buy an art commission. Get them a picture of their favourite character, or their pet, or their OC, or themselves. Get it printed if you want to give them something physical. I've had a 100% win rate with this.

This is a really great read - and the point about genre tropes feels particularly apt.

It's all about the kind of stories you're into, but the start of any subseries is your best bet. This breaks the main series down into their component parts. I have a soft spot for the Death books myself. And since Death is in every novel, starting there lets you always have a familiar face drop in!

A chart splitting the Discworld series of books into subsections, indicating good starting points and connecting direct sequels with a solid line and linked/related books with a dotted line.

It was Unskippable, back on the Escapist - I think it was the Dirge of Cereberus episode as I was a preteen who was devouring anything related to FFVII I could find.

Been thinking a lot these last few days about Sometimes by Sheenagh Pugh. #poetry

The text of the poem Sometimes by Sheenagh Pugh

Sometimes things don't go, after all,
from bad to worse, Some years, muscadel
faces down frost; green thrives; the crops don't fail;
sometimes a man aims high, and all goes well.

A people sometimes will step back from war;
elect an honest man, decide they care
enough, that they can't leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for.

Sometimes our best efforts do not go
amiss, sometimes we do as we meant to.
The sun will sometimes melt a field of sorrow
that seemed hard frozen: may it happen for you

Reply for a colour! I got red 🍎❤️🥣♦️🎈

Album art for Hospice by The Antlers. Red background with two drawn hands in white, one wearing a hospital bracelet.

Album art for What Can I Hold You With (我用什么把你留住) by 福禄寿FloruitShow. Heavily detailed and stylised collage of illustrations of flowers, animals, and abstract shapes, some of which make a large eye.

Album art for A Hundred Million Suns by Snow Patrol. A black background with many small, folded paper star shapes in red and yellow.

Album art for the deluxe edition of You're A Man Now, Boy by Raleigh Ritchie. A reddish background with the singer standing at the centre in a black jacket, his face a composite of two different photographs.

Ever since I got back from Korea I've been longing for the spicy tuna triangle gimbap that I had there. Tonight I finally got around to fixing that problem. #food

A dramatically lit photograph of a triangle gimbap being made on a dark kitchen counter. The triangle of rice rests on a strip of seaweed, and a set of finished gimbap in triangular bags with cartoon animals on them sits in the back.

Hello all! Please enjoy this little guy I saw today! #streetart #graffiti

Street art of a nervous looking cartoon cactus on a grey brick wall. The cactus is very rounded and cute, with small arms up in the air. It's body is green with pink vertical stripes and large white eyes.
