I think it's like when I was a kid. I would lay in bed, lights out, tuning my AM radio until I picked some obscure station up, playing something like Art Bell, or an old 30s or 40s radio show. It was all about your mind turning the words into scenes, and your own, personal movie.

Sometimes the "Bad" writing can be even more powerful that the things we see from the Nobel Laureates and established authors. Mostly because it's raw, from the heart, and full of the drive of a person wanting to get their message out.

I will admit... begrudgingly, that I do, on occasion, like a good, well written, romance. In fact I prefer them by women because they seem more... realistic, in many cases. I also love books by Faye Kellerman, Ursla K Laguin, Gemma Amor, and Natalie Pinter.

I wish I could remember the name of it, but I recently watched a documentary where the government parachuted several beavers into an area and then let them do their thing. About a year later the land started to recover and new wetlands were forming. Pretty kewl stuff.

It's amazing how the little things our family did for us still make the biggest impact. This hit the hardest when my Mom passed last year. I remember the things like homemade soup and matzo crackers when I was sick. Homework help, and just being there. Getting old can hurt (58 here too, BTW.)

Somewhere, in one of my many boxes in storage, I have mine. Even though I was raised when calculators were common, I loved my mom's slide rule so she taught me how to use it and gave it to me. I used it all through junior high and high school. Loved that thing.

I have questions about conducting interviews, as I am being asked, more and more, if I would interview authors on my Podcast. In short: 1. Do you work out the questions to be asked in advance? 2. Should I send a list of questions to the author? 3. Is there a "sweet spot" for how long it should be?
