9 years ago today was the Moonlight fiasco at the Oscars. I don’t know if the two situations can be compared, but there is an eerie parallel with the BAFTA incident. What should have been a moment of celebration for Black artists will be remembered instead for how that joy was so cruelly erased.

In the 80s, Jesse Jackson spoke up for LGBTQ rights when few other politicians dared. I saw him speak powerfully at the first display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in ‘87 while Bush Sr refused to acknowledge it. He was ahead of his time in many ways. May he be an example to future Dem candidates.

That’s Zuckerberg’s wife, a pediatrician who once worked at the same county hospital that I used to work at (and which now bears her husband’s name, though I refuse to call it that). A children’s doctor, sitting next to him at a table full of child predators. I am just sickened.
