A friend randomly brought round a single lemon yesterday while out walking through town in the rain... so today I got a spare lemon electricity kit out of a kitchen cupboard to use... All i can say is, if life gives you lemons, ... make sure life gives you enough lemons.
photo of a page from a leaflet/guide book on how to use a kit for making a lemon clock or a LED illuminated by lemons, describing how to use 3 lemons in series and 6 electrodes to create enough voltage for an LED.

item 49 in the guide. "Join up the wires as shown"

[fig depicting 3 lemons in series, with zinc and copper electrodes in the first two lemons, and brass/aluminium in the third lemon - the wire links them in a series of "LED-wire-zinc-lemon-copper-wire-zinc-lemon-copper-wire-brass-lemon-aluminium-LED" ]

item 50 in the guide.

"The LED will light up using the power of lemon juice."

I think of the Daoist tale of Yúgōng Yíshān, and usually in the form of this adaptation and tune by Banco de Gaia www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFCB...
Spoken word opening from Banco De Gaia China (Clouds not Mountains) taken from the story of Yúgōng Yíshān:
A long, long time ago
There was an old man with his children
Living in a mountain village
They lived a very happy life
With only one big problem
They had to climb over a big mountain to go to the field every day
So one day, the old man decided to move the mountain
With his children they began chipping away pieces of rocks
Every day at the foot of the mountain
Wise men passed by and asked him
"How can you possibly think you can move the mountain?"
The old man said, "Probably I won't"
"But you see, I have children, My children will have children.
And they will continue. And the mountain will be moved"

I have at least one question.
bbc website "wales region" photo and headline; In the photo, an orangutan on a forest decking area leans in toward a red haired woman in a white dress kneeling down holding its hand, the orangutan seems to have dreadlocked hair. The headline under the photo reads "Nationwide cashier jailed after stealing from vulnerable customers to fund luxury holidays"

I have pointed like this, many times. I'd have fought for the window seat - and he's going to slide off round that s-bend coming up if they don't stop pointing and hold onto the rail. these days tis sad that buses on the routes I use are oft now single-deckers, and have no similar seat.

aside: I wish for the day the BBC stops posting "Bod who owns a video camera, did a thing" as Tech news Folk being able to broadcast video, or to computer-game hasn't been tech news for yonks, BBC; it's "celebrity news" or "news" It's as if they're baffled by that use of the middle "B" in BBC

If your business has a website, you may want to have an app developed. Here’s a quick guide on how to make that decision: Does your website function? If the answer is yes, don’t release an app. If the answer is no, fix your website and don’t release an app.

So what's at stake here? When autistic people are reframed as confused, over-identifying, or ‘just struggling’, credibility and advocacy are undermined. And it gets overlooked (conveniently) that autism describes a distinct neurotype - even if environment shapes how disabling it is. 10/11

It’s like sweeping a metal detector across a beach and concluding that the beach is made of metal. Of course that's what you'll find – as metal is the only thing the instrument detects. That doesn't mean there’s no beach. #Autism #Diagnosis 6/11

In the olden days this is the point we'd hear about a Great Wedding to take place between Barron von Troomp and a forgotten exiled daughter of Khamenei. A bless`ed union of 2 grea.. erm... of 2 houses, where the new queen might guide the Barron about - well, anything, I guess; the sky, how to eat...

Carl Sagan's 'Baloney Detection Kit' – a set of tools for sceptical thinking and scientific reasoning, designed to help people spot logical fallacies, misinformation, rhetorical tricks, and deceptive arguments.
Infographic titled “Carl Sagan’s Baloney Detection Kit: A humanist guide for detecting bullshit,” adapted by Humanists UK. It presents nine principles for critical thinking: (1) seek independent evidence, (2) encourage open debate, (3) question authority, (4) consider multiple hypotheses, (5) stay open to changing your mind, (6) quantify where possible, (7) ensure every link in an argument holds, (8) apply Occam’s Razor (prefer simpler explanations), and (9) beware unfalsifiable claims

Screenshot of Google Maps, showing a map view rather than satellite imagery , the image is centred on a building north of a railway line... the building is named "Barry Leisure Centre", to its left is the Vale of Glamorgan Council, and to the sound Barry Argos and Barry Uniting church, identifying the region shown as Barry, a large town in south Wales near Cardiff airport.

Stairs of Knowledge at the University of Balamand, Lebanon. Walking up these stairs is literally a step toward higher education. A Tribute To Modern Day Thinkers (10 Photos): streetartutopia.com/2026/01/09/a...
Outdoor staircase designed as a stack of oversized book spines at the University of Balamand in Lebanon, each step painted to resemble classic literary works including The Republic by Plato, The Divine Comedy by Dante, The Prince by Machiavelli, Faust by Goethe, and Critique of Pure Reason by Immanuel Kant. The colorful stairway is set in a landscaped garden with greenery and flowers on both sides, creating the illusion of walking up a tower of world literature.
