One of my workout goals is to bike/run/walk every street in Hermiston. Built a simple tracker for this this morning. Didn't realize I'm close to 30% already.

@zolotkey why this matters: In a very general sense, troughs and lows cause upward motion to create clouds and stormy weather. Ridges and highs force air downward, which warms as it descends and also helps keep skies clear.

@zolotkey You could process data from Open-Meteo (which doesn't have our model) but here's the 30-day animation from our work model, frames every 12 hours. To help make sense of it, I recommend picking a single strong ridge or trough and watch how that progresses through the period.

@zolotkey Expanding on this, here's a map of our current state. I estimated the jet stream roughly in pink and marked ridges and troughs as red and blue. Each ridge-trough pair is a wave, I count about five waves in the Northern Hemisphere right now.

A relative’s child needed heart surgery as a toddler a year or so ago. The one year follow up appointment including the echocardiogram cost them $4500 after both parents insurance. Absolutely insane we continue to allow this to happen as a society.

I think I'll be going up Jump Off Joe south of Kennewick tomorrow afternoon to measure the wind. Strongest gust I have ever recorded on my Kestrel is 100 km/h, and then a tree fell on me (I was not injured). I'd say about a 30% chance I beat that tomorrow. #WAwx #weather

@HayiWena I could see Stanfield having enough but I don't know about Irrigon. One of the Irrigon coaches was telling me about kids having jobs making it difficult to field a team in general yesterday, though. There just aren't enough kids to really do much with.
