Austria grew by 21 900 people in 2026 Basically only in Vienna which grew by 13 747 people The fastest growing regions outside of Vienna are smaller cities surrounding Vienna like eisenstadt, Wiener neustadt and St Pölten And Graz and area around it

With April data arriving we are on track for a growth of around 10-15k thousand people in 2025 in Vienna, which is almost half the growth of the past two years This is almost certainly because since the end of the war in syria the number of syrians coming to Vienna has dropped significantly

The greens have been the only party that consistently target the EU-Vote in Vienna and all of Austria so its not entirely surprising But how dominant it is crazy, in some districts the Greens got 60% of the EU vote and the arguably were pivotal in flipping the 5th district from the spö to greens

Last Sunday wasnt just a City-wide election, but also 23 district elections happened, and not only austrian citizens, but also EU-Citizens are eligble to vote there And it seems like the Greens absolutely dominated that EU-Vote getting 36,6% of it way ahead of the spö at 28,2%

There is Election analysis based on metro lines happening in Vienna Here metro line U6 clearly shows that the green and fpö voters live in completely different parts of the city, greens in urban centre and fpö on the outskirts

the results of todays Viennese election shifts in the right wing camp and the social democrats loose a bit and the liberals gain a bit, but otherwise not much changes the district results will be interesting because they have a lot of power over street redesigns

Workers are some of the most right wing voters in Vienna They voted 45% & 53% for right wing parties in the last two municipal elections (compared to 10% & 30% they achieved in total) Tbf only a third of workers are eligible to vote and turnout from them is low, still concerning Election on 27.4.
