SRC changed their terms of use yesterday, and released a news post with an FAQ. They make it sound like not a big deal. It's a big deal. The Creative Commons licence is gone. They claim ownership over the data now. Thread about what this means, and what we can do about it 🧵

Comparison of the old src terms and the new src terms

Gonna be honest with you, just play the games you want without having a website like RA dictate how you should be playing a game. Just found out today that they promoted someone to a mod, who was already shown to harass people outside of RA, so that's the state of things really.

Just a nice early Christmas present for myself. Got hooked with the 16Bit design but I was nearly tempted for the Purple one instead! Also celebrating my new job offer a few days ago too, which will be fantastic to start (It's kinda like a promotion in a way honestly with the higher pay) #retroid

So screw them honestly. I've made my comments regarding the matters and I'll just do what I do best which is playing games, making content and having tons of fun. At least people can start to know the shit that goes on within the deeper parts of RA.

Scott's responses raises an even bigger concern about #RetroAchievements, saying the teams "self-manage", he doesn't manage them and can only ask them to act. So who actually holds staff accountable when THEY get it wrong? If the answer is effectively nobody, well that explains the state of RA then

Honestly past, it shows them up if they do continue. And it reaffirms lots of comments and criticism people had with the RetroAchievements teams too. But the general thing is if someone isn't a part of a community anymore (Whatever the reasons), leave them be and don't attack their personal spaces

Scott apologised that he "hadn't been able to fix this problem" and said he'd check in with RA to ensure nobody was saying anything untrue. Yet staff are still coming onto my channel. That raises serious questions about staff moderation. It won't silence me or stop me enjoying games.

And to correct another claim: I was already DONE with RA before I ever spoke to RAdmin the way I did. I've never hidden those messages or that I fought fire with fire when I thought people were treating others badly. Criticise my response if you want, but don't rewrite the timeline.

I've now had multiple RA staff coming onto my channel, including admins and a Code Reviewer, continuing the accusations and making other claims about me. I've already been muted and I've left RA. They can disagree with me, but that doesn't justify following the dispute onto MY social spaces.

Their Lead Community Manager claimed there was "very clear evidence" I cheated. Nobody showed me this evidence. Scott questioned me himself about the suspicious unlocks before reaching the opposite conclusion. I also recorded a video for him demonstrating exactly how I earned them without cheating.

A few things need addressing about #RetroAchievements Staff keep following me onto YouTube and accusing me of cheating, despite RA's owner, Scott telling me: "you didn't cheat, I believe you." I also want to address claims about my behaviour and why staff are still continuing this dispute.

Already had some "lovely" comments posted on the video. It just reaffirms my thoughts on the community being well...as they are basically and it makes me more happy that I don't have to deal with things on there anymore 💙

Afternoon folks! Big apologies for the huge delay but we're finally done with the video. Further details on the upload schedule will come sometime next week once I've got that all sorted out. But yes, I'm back! (Well...I never left really). Much love to you all! 🩵 youtu.be/X_1QFA8i64s

I'll give some further details why soon, but just to let you all know that I'm thinking about not streaming anymore, or if I do continue, it won't be as much. Haven't been feeling it for a couple months now, and it might be time to move onto other adventures. But I'll talk about that soon too.

Just a brief update on things folks. My cough has started to go finally, but I've got some personal matters to sort out right now. I am also gonna talk in a video soon about my thoughts currently with streaming, and whether I feel that I want to reduce how often I stream, or completely cut it out.
