Those are also good examples! Xelloss uses her for his short term goals, so helping her is better than leaving her to her own devices. That doesn't mean his end goal is good because he's protecting one person. He's using her.

So in my head, it's like... The hero can need the villain, but the villain has to feel like they're taking advantage of the hero. Goku asks for Frieza help in DB Super, but Goku is not evil or bad, and Frieza is not doing it because he's a good person. He does it for his survival and his own agenda

I think that's where I think we're disconnecting. I agree with you on that type of villain But what about one that is more of a selfish one? They want it. They need it. It's their thing to have. And this other entity is trying to take it. They are still a horrible person. It's about power and ego.

I agree with that, and it's basically my way of thinking, but it is kind of an interesting thought to be like: how does this effect the characters around this situation? Is kinda fun.

I don't think this is quite true, but I understand where you're coming from. What I've been piecing together, it requires that the hero feels like they're stopping a greater or stronger evil, while the Villain needs to feel like they're using the hero to remove competition or further their plans.

Here's an interesting thought question Is an irredeemable villain still irredeemable if said villain's goals align with the heroes for a singular instant? Say the hero needed their help and knew they would because it aligns with what the villain wants in the end. Or does that bring the hero down?

True. That's a good way to think about it. In my head, it's like, if one guy is evil, but he's manageable and able to stop a greater evil, would that be considered bad? Like say Optimus Prime and Megatron (not necessarily irredeemable) joining together to fight Unicron, as example.

Yeah, I figure that's the case.

The chromatic spines of Pioneer/Geneon's old Last Exile dvd boxset. If you're a fan of the anime and see it cheap anywhere, I def recommend picking it up. Not only does it have a very pretty case design, but it also has a ton of cool physical goodies such as ship schematics and character profiles.

This was a tough list to make, but I ultimately settled on the shows that I think had the biggest impact on me and helped to shape me, at least in part, into who I am today.

My nine most impactful anime, starting from the top-left: One-Punch Man, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Mob Psycho 100, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Princess Principal, Spice and Wolf, Fate/Zero, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Cowboy Bebop.

My turn! These are the anime that I love the most by far, and I know it might look weird, but each one is super important. GXP is interchangeable with just Tenchi Muyo but I think GXP is a little better.
