I'll try to do OctoberWorldbuilders tomorrow. Today's been less than ideal and I'm just not feeling up to much.

Okay so that thing about it not being an emergency? Got a message from my bank today telling me that my account has been hacked, so... It's officially kind of an emergency now.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Most structures in Urgaia are carved from different types of stone; sandstone, limestone, whatever happens to be in the area. Some are even comprised of rocks that don't exist in the real world, and it's said that some wealthy individuals in the capital have homes made of gems.

Hey guys. I really don't wanna have to resort to this, but funds are kinda tight right now. It's not yet so dire that I'd classify it as an emergency, but if anyone could chip in even a little I'd genuinely really appreciate it. ko-fi.com/leilandgoldw...

Man I love when I get to look into ancient weaponry for a story.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Urgaians are a hardy people who believe in the strength of community. Everyone is expected to do their share and pull their weight, and the people are generally quite friendly with one another. Urgaians also tend to be fairly welcoming toward most outsiders.

Leiland Goldwell @leilandgoldwell.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

#OctoberWorldbuilders Urgaia is home to the largest desert in all of Theryl. Vast dunes, rocky canyons and hard, compact dirt comprise much of the nation's landscape.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Had to think long and hard about this one, as there were a lot of ways I could have answered it. However, I guess the one thing I love to see most in writing is when everything ties back to a central theme, motif or idea.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Primarily I've been doing a playthrough of Octopath Traveler 0, and watching a streamer playthrough Control: Resonant. I also just recently picked up a copy of Mera: Tidebreaker at my local library (yes, Mera as in the Aquaman character.) All of 'em are pretty good/great!

#SeptemberWorldbuilders There are forms of miraclecraft that invoke the deities of light and darkness. There's also a form of magic used by sorcerers that distorts the nature of both.

Having lots of ideas for book 7 that sound really good but would require several substantial rewrites. Ugh... To commit or not to commit?

#SeptemeberWorldbuilders Aka and Yalid, the deities of darkness and light, were among the original seven Divines who defeated the Shayta and sealed them away in the underworld. They aided with the creation of Theryl, as well as humanity in general.

110

Leiland Goldwell @leilandgoldwell.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

#SeptemberWorldbuilders As the followers of Aka have strict rules about never permitting light to touch them, they have create several spaces for themselves throughout Theryl where they can do things like eat, bathe, or engage any other activity that necessitates removing their coverings.

Of all my protagonists, Fuyu takes this easy. She's a giant of a woman who fights for a living. Even without her armor, you'd have to be pretty strong to deliver a punch that actually hurts.

Leiland Goldwell @leilandgoldwell.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

#SeptemberWorldbuilders The most common form of light source in Theryl is ocilite: a gemstone that constantly emits its own light source. Ocilite is fairly common throughout Theryl, used in many homes and workplaces to illuminate one's surroundings.

Artwork of my OC Case, a tall-eared, light furred character, with platinum blonde hair. The setting is them standing as they turn, with the background being that of night with a halo glowing behind them and stars sparkling. The grayed clouds are fluffy, yet bright at the edges as the image has Case centered. Their expression is stoic, with their blue eyes glowing as they look on. Their outfit is white with blue pants, as they wear detached sleeves that are puffy.

Today's World Music: Guardian Tales - Boss Battle Theme. Honestly, never even played this game. Just stumbled across the track and found something that fit an intense action scene I was working on. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ITb...

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Darkness in Theryl is often associated with justice and hidden truths. In the dark, one's true nature is revealed. The secrets one tries to hide from the light all inevitably come to reside in shadow, those who forsake the gift of sight and hear and feel what most cannot.

This was a tough list to make, but I ultimately settled on the shows that I think had the biggest impact on me and helped to shape me, at least in part, into who I am today.

My nine most impactful anime, starting from the top-left: One-Punch Man, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Mob Psycho 100, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Princess Principal, Spice and Wolf, Fate/Zero, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Cowboy Bebop.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Given that Yalid is the god of light and knowledge, the two very much go hand-in-hand. Light brings clarity, which in turn leads to deeper understanding. There's a form of miraclecraft that uses light to conceal writing until certain conditions are met.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Oh, for sure. All of my protagonists have had their rough patches, though with some of them I'll have to be more sparse on details than others. For spoiler reasons, of course.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Theryl's sailors are not unlike our own. Some set sail to fish, others carry goods or passengers across large bodies of water, and of course, some serve in their country's navy. That said, naval warfare in Theryl is rather rare.

Odd, the main character of Bloodseeker, discovered he was into guys fairly early on. The leader of his gang, Keld, would tease and flirt with him on occasion... Only for those flirtations to be reciprocated. Eventually, the two formed a much deeper bond with one another...

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Drey: Has lived most of his life in a desert, so he never saw the ocean until he visited the coastal town of Urlosa. It's not the most pleasant memory... Sulfur: Has likewise never seen the ocean on account of living in the jungle.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders No one has actually delved super deep into Theryl's oceans. This is partly because they lack the diving equipment necessary, and partly because many would consider it heretical to do so. After all, Ure herself dances in the depths of the sea, and who would intrude upon her?

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Well there is an ancient prophecy in Pou that a series of calamities will befall the islands before they are swallowed up by the sea, but precious few even know that one... You can find more about it in Fateseekers ;)

Melodie, protag of Throneseeker, is extremely lacking in confidence. That's undeniably her greatest weakness. Her greatest strength, however, is probably her strong moral compass.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders I've got a few noteworthy aquatic animals in Theryl. Some are my own creation, while others are adapted from folklore and mythology. The most notable are rainbeasts: creatures made of pure water, who begin life in the ocean only to ascend into the clouds upon maturing.
