Thing is, he's not totally wrong to bring up finishing 17th. A 38 game season is probably a better indicator of the side's quality than winning a knockout tournament. But a manager who backs his players and himself can get that side back up to a respectable position. This is weaselly bullshit.

I have defended Daniel Levy for a very long time. I maintain that his financial management in building the club from a long running midtable or worse side to a genuine competitor is deeply underrated in world where such work is easily overshadowed by sovereign wealth funds buying their way to glory.
