Very much hope this is the govt changing course and introducing the LDAN Bill. At the very least, explaining how they are going to achieve the aims of the bill without legislation.

Michael Marra mocking “back of a fag packet” plans is quite something, even brave. He wrote Scottish Labour’s manifesto and at least the fag packet comes with detailed warnings.

Immensely disappointing that folk are either whining to the media without giving their name or that the national is talking to two people without seeking any contrary point of view. Some discourse, huh

No disrespect to the authors of this resolution but it is a total waste of an agenda slot. This is already the position of the party. We abolish the Scotland Office via independence.

3. Conferences committee is mostly democratic. It could be better as about a third are there defacto or handpicked but they did take a vote. Granted, improvements can be made. 4. Members can make their voices heard at conference regardless. 5. The lead on this is Toni G. Come on.

Not on this particular committee but many inaccuracies here. 1. 50 branches, but not listed in any of the leaked briefings? Are the 50 in the room with us? 2. From what was reported, It wasn't competent. It was basically highjacking another resolution and doing a delete all, replace with...

See, we got this right a decade ago when we put in a moratorium on fracking. Did our research, consultation and passed good legislation effectively banning the practice a few years later. It's really disappointing that we've failed to learn from when we got things absolutely right.

Love the little game where I convince myself I’m ready to come off crutches, hobble around like a newborn deer for a bit, realise I am in fact not stable, and return to them with most vexed. Anyway, the crutches remain annoyingly employed and recovery is not linear.

But iD Mobile/Currys seem to be processing orders on Windows 97, and I'm now at the stage of trying to trick their system into accepting my money just so they can keep me as a customer. Would rather be torn apart by nevrons tbh.

And apparently, to buy a phone in 2026, I need a physical chip-and-PIN bank card. I haven’t carried one for about 10 years. Contactless exists. Google Pay exists. I literally got a mortgage and masters without needing one.

Trying to upgrade my phone with iD Mobile has somehow turned into an archaeological expedition but not a fun one like Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Their system refuses to recognise Scottish flat numbers, so I went into Currys, who now own iD Mobile, to sort it out in person.

Thank you to @neilmackay.bsky.social for this very good piece. There is a resolution on this topic, backed by Out for Indy, on the provisional agenda for the SNP National Conference in October, and we hope members will support it.
21. ABORTION LAW REFORM
Conference recognises and affirms the rights to safe and timely abortion care.

Conference reaffirms its support for its positions adopted at annual national conference in
2024 that the right to abortion should be enshrined in the constitution of an independent
Scotland and in 2023 that access must be equitable across Scotland with services available
up to the legal limit of 24 weeks.

Conference recognises the work of the Abortion Law Reform Expert Group, initiated by the
SNP Scottish Government in 2024, in developing proposals for reforming Scotland's
outdated abortion laws.

Conference notes with concern that at present, Scotland is the only part of the UK that has
not modernised its abortion laws to remove legal penalties from women under the 1967
Abortion Act and that, as a result, Scotland is not meeting international health and human
rights standards for access to health care.

Conference notes that women in Scotland have faced police investigation for suspected
abortions after experiencing miscarriage due to these outdated laws, adding to the trauma of pregnancy loss.

Conference therefore resolves that Scotland's abortion law should be reformed to:
1. Follow the recommendations of the Expert Group;
2. Remove criminal penalties from women who terminate their pregnancies; and
3. Create a health-based framework for abortion care rooted in human rights and equality of
access, not criminal law.

Excellent piece, as usual tbf to and from @neilmackay.bsky.social. For the SNP's upcoming conference, there's a resolution on exactly this in the provisional agenda. It's up to members to decide but we're optimistic it will make the final agenda.

Which makes a great case for actual ownership and a long term strategic plan about how we make buses: A. Good. B. Affordable. C. Sustainable. Not necessarily in that order because we're lacking all of those criteria. SNP members can back my resolution this National Conference to make it happen.

Some very interesting reforms re health boards. Combining all mainland boards into two is not going to be taken well in certain areas and communities. That said, I think it's for the best. Not to save money but actually make sure services are done consistently which just isn't happening.

This is anecdotal but half the folk I know who've gotten their ADHD or autism diagnosis, have done so privately or through community care, but under section. Almost everyone that I've seen go private has had their shared care agreements scrapped with no alternative or appeal. There is no care.
