When we stockpile early votes, we are protecting the election. The more early votes are cast and counted, the harder it is to sabotage the election. That means that this year, all supervoters (those who vote in every election) have a special superpower: moving their vote to the first day they can cast it!  Reach out to all your supervoter friends and family, and ask them to vote early!

Did you know that Oakland currently has several hundred automated license plate readers (ALPRs) spread across the city...and they have captured over 600,000,000 license plates in the last year alone? Provided by a company called Flock, these readers send data to Oakland's police department — with the alleged purpose of helping to fight crime. Unfortunately, the data can instead be used to threaten the safety of citizens who have committed no crimes — especially our immigrant neighbors.

Have you participated in a protest march, a demonstration or a picket line recently? If so, you were likely listening to various high-energy speakers, chuckling at the interesting and witty signage, and getting motivated by the surrounding crowd. You probably were not thinking about the various ways that things could go sideways, ranging from inattentive motorists to disruptive counterprotestors. IEB and other like-minded organizations have had a significant presence at countless political and social events over the years, more so during the Trump era.

While confusion abounds in the California gubernatorial race, Indivisible East Bay’s Canvass Crew couldn’t be more clear about their support for congressional candidate for California’s 22nd district, Randy Villegas. “He’s an educator, a small business owner, and his positions are right in line with what I believe in,” says Laurel teVelde. Laurel is one of three Co-Captains of IEB’s Canvass Crew, and in early April she organized a team of eight IEB members to canvass for Villegas in Fresno.

Would Viktor Orbán, Hungary’s authoritarian Prime Minister, be re-elected again or would liberal democracy re-assert itself after sixteen years of illiberal rule?  To our great relief, nearly 80% of eligible voters in Hungary turned out and in overwhelming numbers elected Péter Magyar’s party, Tisza, by winning 138 out of 199 seats.
