The result will be adult spaces becoming flooded with kids who are going above and beyond to "prove" they're not kids, putting them in more danger than they would've been before. Governments shouldn't have a say who has access to what on the Internet.

Kids will find a way around this act that only serves to monitor and restrict access to "adult" content. To me, that adult content includes fanart that has been marked as adult content by the users. Personally, on the Internet, I was 18 for 7 years.

Today, the UK government's Online Safety Act came into effect. I woke up to social media apps and websites asking me to "verify my age" through either using a scan of my face or verifying my credit card. This is censorship, disguised as protecting the kids. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/72...

The AI Backlash Keeps Growing Stronger
As generative artificial intelligence tools continue to proliferate, pushback against the technology and its negative impacts grows stronger.

This frustration over AI’s steady creep has breached the container of social media and started manifesting more in the real world. Parents I talk to are concerned about AI use impacting their child’s mental health. Couples are worried about chatbot addictions driving a wedge in their relationships. Rural communities are incensed that the newly built data centers required to power these AI tools are kept humming by generators that burn fossil fuels, polluting their air, water, and soil. As a whole, the benefits of AI seem esoteric and underwhelming while the harms feel transformative and immediate.

Unlike the dawn of the internet where democratized access to information empowered everyday people in unique, surprising ways, the generative AI era has been defined by half-baked software releases and threats of AI replacing human workers, especially for recent college graduates looking to find entry-level work.
“Our innovation ecosystem in the 20th century was about making opportunities for human flourishing more accessible,” says Shannon Vallor, a technology philosopher at the Edinburgh Futures Institute and author of The AI Mirror, a book about reclaiming human agency from algorithms. “Now, we have an era of innovation where the greatest opportunities the technology creates are for those already enjoying a disproportionate share of strengths and resources.”

He was too enraged and offended to notice the smirk on her face or the fact that his hands had somehow made their way into her hair. "Listen here you little swot," he hissed down at her. "I'm done being ignored. I'm done being treated like I don't exist. Im here and you just have to deal with it."

He leaned closer. "There would be nothing weird about fucking me. I'll have you know, Granger, I'm fantastic in bed." "I never said you weren't," she countered, slowly coming to a stand. "I would rock your fucking world," he said, stepping around her desk.

Granger tilted her head. "We just have too much history." "History?" he said in a very calm, and not at all high pitched manner. "Yeah well it would be weird wouldn't it?" She shrugged. That was it.

"You would fuck my clone but not me?!" "Yes." Suddenly, his chair was on the floor and he was on his feet stalking over to her desk. She leaned back into her seat as he bent over her desk, hands planted either side of her work. "Explain," he demanded.

No one. Not even Pansy and her propensity to talk about her sexual endevours had shocked him so much. This was too much. He simply wouldn't allow Granger to win. "Excuse you?" He managed after an achingly long time of silence. "What was confusing?" Granger asked. Draco's heart pounded.

Draco's mind immediately stopped counting all the things it *somewhat* liked about her. Not me though? He thought, unable to voice words through the sheer shock. His mouth hung open again. Eyes blown wide.

"Oh... well..." he stuttered pathetically. Suddenly a world of possibilities opened up because if she were to admit to that then maybe... She was pretty after all. He could finally admit that. And when she wasn't burning daggers into his soul with her eyes, she was funny, cute- "Not you, though."

In that moment, Draco would happily Avada himself if it meant she'd never look at him like that again. Maybe she should just do it. Put him out of his misery. "Yes." Draco blinked once, then again. "Excuse me?" Granger picked up her quill and rolled her eyes again. "Yes I'd fuck your clone."

"Would you fuck my clone?" The expression of bafflement that twisted over her face matched exactly how Draco felt about what had just left his mouth. "Would I..." Granger said slowly, as if she were trying to decide if she'd hallucinated the question. "Fuck... my clone?" He finished for her.

He continued regardless. "I have a question for you?" Her quill dropped to the desk as a long, drawn-out sigh left her lungs, accompanied by an eye roll. "What?" Draco hadn't thought that far. His mouth hung open for a split second of silence until he asked the most bizarre question imaginable.

He was growing restless. He was out of his mind. How could she be so cold? He cleared his throat. "Granger?" Speaking as nonchalantly as he could manage while eying her for a reaction. She gave none bar a brief flick of her eyes in his direction.

He couldn't be more wrong. It wasn't that working with Granger was boring. What was boring was that she spent 95% of the working day, actively ignoring his presence. Draco had never thought he'd see the day he would willingly seek Granger's attention but every sigh and could was to do just that.

When Draco had accepted his position in the DoM, he'd been aghast to discover his partner would be none other than Hermione Granger. He'd fretted for days that his new job would be nothing like the high-stakes, inquisitive adventure he'd anticipated. A bore, he'd cried to anyone who would listen.
