Did y'all know Jaya Ballard was literally the coolest of the oldwalkers? It wasn't even a competition, don't @ me

Grem if you make a version of this with Elspeth I will owe you my life

The fact Jorge is my top artists and yet there are no Epic songs in the top 5, because I listened to the entire musical on repeat

As @robotrad.bsky.social said when this was posted on twitter, she smells "like a Bath & Body Works with a corpse behind the counter"

The original version of this joke was focused on Emmara instead and it was kind of sad and I didn't know how to finish it, so y'all get the funny haha version

Dear Kaya,
I'm a dad now! It is one of the greatest things that have happened in my life.

Also, I'm alive. Which should be obvious since I'm writing you this letter. Don't go around looking for me.

Regards,

Jace

Kaya, who thought her mail was just random junk:... What the fuck.
Ral, barging in: Kaya, I need to talk to you. Beleren is alive and he-
Kaya: Yeah, I know.
Ral: What do you mean you know.
Kaya, showing him the letter: He just... Told me?
Ral: He just... sent you a letter... By the gods I hate that man!

Oof that was a lot of cards. anyways I must once again reiterate my love of Vivien's M19 flavor texts.

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

I did try to avoid just reading through a bunch of flavor texts here, BTW, but for some I had to go back and check the options. Surprisingly not for Urza tho. I legitimately like the 6ED Ornithopter flavor text. It's the most likeable Urza has ever been

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

it's kind of funny how, for some old walkers, there are a lot of texts *about* them that are less about their character and more about their in-universe myths (like Serra and Freyalise). The first at least had a good option for me to pick. L for Freyalise

Same applies to Practical Research, it's a perfect encapsulation of the Kenrith twins and how their personalities diverge.

Even then its not a fair competition. Darksteel Plate is just amazing in general. Nicol Bolas getting a great one liner in his own card is fitting... Also i guess cards like When We Were Young counts for both the Wanderer AND Kaito. 10/10 very efficient

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

There WILL be some conspicuous absences, unfortunately (hi Dack fans!) but im honestly just going by cards flavor texts that I liked enough to actually remember they existed :/

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

Morning! Let's quickly go through a bunch of planeswalker quotes and/or planeswalker associated cards with cool flavor texts! Imma do them in alphabetical order and all bunched together for the sake of expediency, that's a lot of likes (also sadly some dont have any GREAT flavor texts... sorry)

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

Meanwhile, I DO think Tamiyo's AND Huatli's talisman quotes are the best encapsulation of their character in just a few words!

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

For example, another Ravnican who gets a quote in that cycle is Ral Zarek... even if my favorite of his quotes is something else entirely

150

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

But alas, I have gone too long not mentioning my favorite. Vraska benefits from having a quote in the MH1 Talisman cycle, all of which are super cool

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

Our final Zendikari planeswalker, however, DOES get a cool flavor text. Which is lucky, because she doesn't have a lot of them

170

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

speaking of Zendikar, however, my pick for Nahiri is also a funny one. I'm sorry, I legit laughed when this was previewed back in 2019

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

As for the final Gatewatch member... Ill be honest, Nissa doesn't have any flavor text that immediately grabs me. I like her as a character, its just the cards rely too much on her being an animist without expanding on that... I guess Zendikar's Roil is my favorite, but more for Zendikar itself

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

(...wait, does THIS version of Rest in Peace count as a Gideon flavor text?)

150

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

for Kaya, however, the pick is obvious. Good ol' Ethereal Absolution, the card that single-handedly launched a thousand toxic yuri headcanons

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

For Teferi, there are a BUNCH of cool flavor texts, but I legitimately must pick the funniest one instead because I am a basic bitch who loves puns. I'm sorry (Zhalfirin Void is also cool af tho)

Continuing on to the rest of the Gatewatch, Ajani's welcome is the perfect fit for the eponymous leonin, of course...

For Chandra, beyond the one I already shared, I actually have two picks. One of which (the newest Pyromancer's Goggles) is certainly the newest card ITT!

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

In much the same way, Cofront the Past is my favorite LILIANA text by a wide margin. I love when cards actually depict the emotional state of the characters

Although I already brought up more than one Jace flavor text, I don't think there's any winning against Psychic Corrosion as my favorite Jace flavor text

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

Though if we're on the topic of sad cards from War of the Spark the other pick is obviously Heartwarming Redemption... which makes me want to list my favorite flavor texts for each planeswalker!

170

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

Though I must sneak in a sad pick here, because Heartfire is too good not to mention!

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

Of course we can't forget my favorite Murders at Karlov Manor flavor text, as our final inspirational/motivational/educational Ravnica flavor text!

And then Street Riot has a more coherent ideology in its 4 lines of flavor text than Domri Rade got in every other story he was in combined 😬

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

Though Guilds of Ravnica is the winner here with two bangers. First we have Sworn Companions, which has a very positive message for a very minor draft common...

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

Well, if War of the Spark count might as well get started on the inspirational quotes. Mobilized District hit particularly hard as a Brazilian, since a similar concept ("Ninguém solta a mão de ninguém" aka "No one lets go of anyone's hand") went viral in 2018 in the wake of Bolsonaro's election

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

What IS funnier, however, is Chainwhip Cyclops, from the set right after Allegiance (does War of the Spark count as a Ravnica set?)

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

But my friend much prefered Catacomb Crocodile. Which IS funny, don't get me wrong. It's just not as funny as Concordia Pegasus :)

Incorrect MTG Quotes @incorrect-mtg.bsky.social · 14/11/2024

speaking of funny, back when Ravnica Allegiance came out I remember a debate I had during pre-release with a friend, over which card had the funniest flavor text in the set. I was a big fan of Concordia Pegasus-
