here's a real one: The Earth. All human life, all terestrial life, all know life we can for certain identify *as* life. the pale blue dot. not as spectacular, sure. But true.

all of the horrible stuff floating around about abuse and its awful normalisation made me think of this panel from Saga. Victims are victims, that's all. CW for CSA.

It features Sophie, a six year old girl who is a victim of sexual abuse and a creature known as 'lying cat' a green skinned sphinx-cat the size of a panther which can detect untruth and will proclaim it by saying the word 'lying'. Sophie says out loud her, name, her age and how she can stand on one leg for a long time. she says that she wants to be a doctor or a dancer when she's an adult. She then says that she is dirty on the inside because of what her abusers have been doing to her. Lying Cat interrupts this by saying 'Lying' softly. the last panel is her happily cuddling Lying Cat.

So the deer in Petworth park are extremely used to humans; this isn't a great shot but I was able to take it on my phone with no zoo or special lense from about fifteen feet. Merry Christmas everyone.
