ok so control resonant absolutely has the juice! combat feels tough but fair; the amount of keywords thrown at you is pretty overwhelming but since they only seem to kick in with later upgrades in the trees it's not too much of a headache for now.

finished RE6 last night. sitting on some very complex feelings; it wasn't good but I thoroughly enjoyed it. will need to do a longer writeup at some point. for now, my main takeaway is this:

A meme that says "If you're ever sad, just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as Aeon (the fandom name for the relationship between Resident Evil characters Leon and Ada)." Next to the text are many images of Leon and Ada in the games, and of merchandise of the two.

fighting the urge to keep working on the rendering on the cover. the game is a work in progress and so I guess it's fitting for much of the art to also be.

One of Hideo Kojima's real talents is that he would have exactly this idea but the stew would be dropped off by a drone that sings a little jingle which can alert enemies if they're in range. You then get a phone call from a nuclear scientist who warns you not to eat too much starch and dairy.

spent an evening organizing my music files and making some offline versions of the playlists I've got on spotify. nostalgia over customizing music player skins and making playlist covers and all that good stuff hit like a goddamn truck.

reading a fantastic book about Shadow of the Colossus and man, sometimes it’s hard to not feel jaded reading how people got their start in the industry compared to how it is today :’)

A passage about Fumito Ueda from Nick Suttner’s book “Shadow of the Colossus”. It reads: “After graduating from Osaka University of Arts in 1993 he applied at game developer WARP, and despite not passing the initial application process he was hand-picked by company head Kenji Eno (who would later become an influential game composer before passing away in 2013) thanks to the concept behind some animation work Ueda had submitted of a dog running in the rain.”

so, Cairn. interesting game, though the jank that shows up in the rocks that seem solid but actually aren't and the limb auto-selection system is taking me out of the experience often enough to where it's hard to fully enjoy. also the late-game resource depletion scene (iykyk) felt cheap.
