Thimerosal is a salt: in chemistry, an ionic compound that dissociates in water. The positive ion is ethylmercury, C₂H₅Hg⁺. Ethylmercury is *not* mercury. It’s also *not* methylmercury, a compound that accumulates in our environment & can cause toxicity. 4/
