This week I also did git.kontain.me which serves OCI images with the specified Git repo shallow-cloned into the image for you: docker run --rm git.kontain.me/github.com/imjasonh/kontain.me log

This is built on infinite-git.kontain.me which is a Git repo that always has new commits on main. Do with that what you will...

pkg.go.dev/infinite-go.... is a Go module that always has a new version. (The go proxy caches for ~5 mins, but GOPROXY=direct bypasses it so you should always see an update) go get -u infinite-go.kontain.me

Claude and I spent the morning making a browser-based simulator for those FPV drones they use in Olympic downhill events. It's amazing what's possible with computers these days. imjasonh.github.io/droneski/

Let's play a game: - you pick a number. - you verbally count out loud, at whatever pace you want, uninterrupted (no breaks, no sleep, you count while going to the bathroom, etc.) - if you can reach that number, you get that many dollars; otherwise, you get nothing. What number would you pick?

On the latest @oxide.computer podcast, @ahl.bsky.social predicted a programming language optimized for LLMs, perhaps unintelligible to humans. I've never been nerdsniped so hard. I wrote up my experience trying to get an LLM to build this, and learned a lot. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Thinking about getting one of these, just so that I feel like a huge goober whenever I use my phone, and use it less.

In that future, real humans will be uniquely better at producing this style of art, and we may value it more because of that.

AI slop art is a particular aesthetic, with typical characteristics: extra fingers, garbled text, etc. If you believe the hype, AI will become *worse* at producing that aesthetic over time. In that future, we may find the AI slop aesthetic nostalgic, of a time when AI art was more discernible.

Copilot comments include little Copilot ads to drive ✨engagement✨, which encourages you to assign work to Copilot to search the web to figure out how to configure itself. I already have a CLAUDE.md in the repo, which Copilot understands. Why do all this work to rewrite it? (spoilers: it's metrics)
Copilot comment footer promoting ✨engagement✨The previous call-to-action link just opens an issue, assigned to @copilot.The resulting PR induces Copilot to go search for examples of how to set up Copilot.

I can't get it to open issues, so it can't track follow-up tasks or break down a plan into smaller steps. This seems like a product the team building it should be forced to use day-to-day, and shouldn't be allowed to launch it until they're productive.

Having to approve its CI workflows each time slows things down immensely. Having CI be part of the PR workflow and not its main iteration loop feels like GH shipping its org chart.

GitHub Copilot agent mode trip report: - being able to assign issues to the agent and it opens a PR is pretty cool - the agent not being able to rebase its own changes makes concurrent changes basically a non-starter - every iteration being a 15+ minute cycle makes it inappropriate for anything real
