do we as a society really need caffeinated jelly beans
011
emi gennis @imemi.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It feels like the spiritually correct spelling of this product should be "Extreme Sport Beanz," but I guess Jelly Belly was trying to keep their caffeinated jelly beans classy
A bag of Jelly Belly® Extreme Sports Beans® (spelled with an "s" in "Beans") Energizing Jelly Beans®, information on the package describes them as offering "quick energy for sports performance," and containing "carbs, electrolytes, vitamins B & C, and 50mg of caffeine." It is unclear from this image of the packaging whether the 50mg of caffeine is per serving or per bean.

Ohmygod I just jumped in and paused at page 73 to come back here and holy cow what an incredible page, really enjoying all of the quiet, intimate, intensity so far

I called just to be sure I wasn't misunderstanding something and the nurse was like "you'd be surprised how far you can get it up there" Um, no ma'am, this is not my first object insertion rodeo. I will in fact not be at all surprised, and I'm telling you this thing isn't even getting close

Today in Women's Health: I got a Rx with directions to "insert into vagina, as close to the cervix as possible" prior to my IUD placement appt. However, you may recognize this as Not A Suppository. Doctors really got me out here fashioning a makeshift insertion device from just *whatever* I guess
Just two regular-ass looking compressed powder tablets with the score in the middle and everything, no insertion device, not at all designed for this

I had never heard of "pet rent" before moving to Columbus. In every other place I'd lived the standard was a one time, nonrefundable pet deposit. I currently pay $360 every year for just one cat, more than any single pet deposit I'd ever paid, and adding up to thousands in total so far.

This is so kind!! I'm sure I could find someone who would use it but unfortunately I am going to have to shift away from teaching with these. They're a fantastic tool, it's a real shame

Stumbled on this two year old reddit thread of people sharing the word for "comics" in their language. Some of these are so delightful. I really love Brazil's "stories in squares" for some reason? It's just yeah, that's what that is actually www.reddit.com/r/graphicnov...
u/theodewitt: "In Brazil we say HQ = Histórias emi quadrinhos (stories in squares)"u/strng: "In Ukraine we say 'maliopys': written in drawings."deleted user: "in turkish it is called 'çizgiroman'. Çizgi means line and roman means novel. It is rare using but çizgi also means drawing if used as an adjective."u/kaktopuss: "Stripboek in Dutch"

I moved to Ohio from Kansas (not from either place originally) and I think about this a lot. Like there are SO MANY dense urban centers in OH that it's basically impossible to be 2+ hrs away from almost anything. Plenty of places in KS where you could be that far from even just an interstate highway

see also: this article I found years ago while doing research for a piece in Then It Was Dark anthology. "GIVES OUT A STORY ON IT" like yeah man, we know! we're reading it right now!!
scan of a 1920s American newspaper. the article pictured has four layers of headlines before the body of the article begins, as follows: "WOMAN ASSERTS SHE GOT MEDIUM ON SPOOK WIRE" // "Asserts She Heard Call of Spirit of Man Who Killed Himself" // "GIVES OUT OF STORY ON IT" // "Says Suicide Was Neither Wise Nor Right But Will Be of Great Value."

one of my favorite parts of doing historical research is the many layers of increasing absurd sub-headlines that were just a normal part of this era of newspaper publishing "SHE JUST GRABS THEM" lmao this kills me

This kind of shit is reminiscent of Boomers sneering about Millennials/Xers yearning for "participation trophies." And who conceived of/rewarded the kid Xers/Millennials with those trophies in the first place, cocksucker? And now you have to gall to criticize/mock them over a thing YOU did?

Yes exactly, and without creating spacial confusion! Or maybe, just enough to add to the narrative tension, but not enough to disorient the reader or disrupt pageflow. All of his layouts are staggering works of art, loveletters to the medium itself 💕

aside from the obvious, I would argue Pierre also does not belong on this list
Screenshot of a list from a baby names website titled "Long Boy Names That Start With P," including the names Jean, Pierre, Prudencio, Philander, Prometheus, Pendleton, Patterson, and Philippos. Keen-eyed readers will note the name "Jean" is neither long nor begins with the letter P.

yes, all over my body. it felt like the sensation originated in my spine and then dissipated through my limbs to terminate on extremities (fingertips, mostly) which is where it would feel the most intensely "crackly," for lack of a better word.
