I know I mostly only post here when I'm depressed, but I've found a lot good stuff to share as well. Like, I recently got into the band Honey Revenge - banger after banger on their track lists.

I know I'm letting myself down, but I can't figure out how to escape the flight-or-flight/exhaustion/depression cycle. Medication/therapy/exercise has not worked. Having a family to support means I don't get the luxury to just step away from everything like I probably need. It's frustrating. (3/3)

I'm through the worst, & can finally decompress a bit, but I really don't know if I can ever will the mental & physical energy to write/produce anything into existence again. That feeling is even more depressing because I've had a $1,700 delinquent crowdfund hanging over my head for >3 years.(2/3)

I'm coming off one of the hardest, most stressful periods of my life; it's frustrating because I feel I can say that for basically half my life at this point. Outside of ages 25-30, & a brief window of 19-21 that led to a horrible spiral, I've been miserable to some degree since I was 12. (1/3)

I'm extremely disappointed (putting it very mildly) that Fan Expo Boston is bringing in Mel Gibson. Then again, the one thing everyone seems to agree on the last couple years is "open antisemitism is okay now" so I'm not surprised in the slightest.

Like it is uncomfortable in how real this is, and of course as a Jewish man and a WWII veteran, Kirby is able to recognise this behaviour, which was not absent in the years since but an ever-bubbling threat, and indeed *gestures to the world today*

Justifiers invade the ‘part of town they want’, calling the people they are capturing ‘swine’, and declaring that “the women and children are as hated as the men”. They drag people from their homes, declaring that they ‘waiting to do this for years’.

Familiar.

The justifiers continue to drag people away, saying they are nothing but animals and declaring themselves justified in ridding the city of these people. As if the point wasn’t clear enough, a justifier then goes on to burning down a library, calling the books within ‘decadent’, and that “you need know no more than the PROPER thing”

Okay. I need a boost here. Looking for artists. We're talking about some potential comic book style art and/or concept art for the #iHunt film. We're privately funding development, so budget isn't Hollywood. I want queer and/or nonwhite artists. I want cool styles. Links? Tags? Self-promo?

I did end up beating Balteus like a week ago btw, and I’m nearly finished with the second chapter. Armored Core 6 is still awesome, though I feel like I’m not taking full advantage of all the build/loadout systems.

I didn’t see (almost) anything described in her book & other sources. Maybe I’m being narcissistic but reading about it haunts me, especially since it was a kids’ show. I wonder how crew from similarly stained sets live with it & move on to the next job. If I knew more I don’t think I could. 3/3.

Even among a sociable, friendly cast she stood out as a happy, sweet, vibrant kid. It hurts to think about how effectively pain can be masked starting at a young age. I actually liked her infamous Mom who was a little odd but not outwardly toxic. It’s easy to be fooled by a public persona. 2/3

I’m reading Jennette McCurdy’s autobiography again ahead of her first novel next week. Her prose is so incredible. She wouldn’t remember me now, but I knew and was friendly acquaintances with Jennette; I PA’ed the first season of iCarly (this story isn’t engagement farming there is a point). 1/3

I binged Murderbot on Apple TV last week and still can’t get over Alexander Skärsgard’s lead performance. I haven’t connected to a character like that in a long time. He really should win an Emmy for it, it’s a wonderfully unique piece of acting throughout the show.

I decided I wanted to get a hockey helmet and stick so I could mess around at the rink again on days I couldn’t get to BJJ. Well, I knew hockey was expensive but nearly $400 to slap pucks into an empty net (not even play a game) is wild. Time to scrounge second hand stores I guess.

I randomly discovered that copies of one of my comics (the one you'd expect) occasionally sell on eBay & Mercari for $20 - $35. I see none of that money but it's pretty neat. I sold over 1,000 copies of that book with no publishing deal (I had one at one point but it fell through for reasons). (1/2)

I'm obsessed with mechs (I have an anthology pitch of a short mech comic I'm dying to get back to someday), and AC6 is definitely a blast. The Balteus fight is hard but not unfair and I'm having fun solving it. I wish there more modern mech games like AC6.

I finally took some XBox time and picked up my neglected copy of Armored Core 6 (bought launch day, only beat a handful of the intro levels). There is nothing like the pain of coming within 1-2 hits of beating Balteus and accidentally hitting "restart mission" instead of "restart from checkpoint."

My son just got into CrunchLabs videos and now wants one of the subscriptions, but he’s in the weird middle space where the Build Boxes are probably too simple for him and he most likely doesn’t have the patience for the Hack Pack (despite being smart enough IMO). It’s a tough call.

Following years of a loop of Minecraft/Smash Bros/Mario Kart (not that those are bad games, they are good), combined with whatever barely 16-bit dopamine rush game his friends like, my son finally tried a Zelda game (Tears of the Kingdom) and absolutely loves it. I almost cried from joy.

As a small part of my mental recovery I started building Gunpla again. I knocked out a quick High Grade in a couple hours and it felt good. Not sure when I will have time to dig into a MG or RG (which I’m dying to do), but I’m appreciating the little bit of peace I get from building one.

In general I’ve been on a little bit of an anime/manga journey the last year to find some more joy/inspiration. Demon Slayer was my obsession all summer and Infinity Castle blew me away. I’ve got Tanjiro/Zenitsu/Tengen/Gyomei toys on my work desk right now.

I imagine so many writers/artists (myself included) wrack their brains constantly trying to spit out a groundbreaking premise or story, and then facepalm when something like “what if a dude can transform into a monster made of chainsaws” becomes a huge hit. I’m being a little unserious (1/2)…
