I'm going to learn guilty gear strive. The character I've enjoyed playing the most so far is Testament, noted agender friend to demons and enjoyer of earthly delights. Might be obligated to lean into the stereotype and learn some Bridget too just to round out my feel for the game.

The way type lines are done is so cool. Capitalized words have rules relevance, the rest is just tying it to the card. Emergent narrative is huge; "this specific giant tried to sack that village but a valiant knight kept it safe at great cost" or "the sirens lured encroaching enemies onto the ice"

Infernal Legion, a Sorcery card with art by Melissa A. Benson. It costs six mana, requires three Fire affinity, and is a minion with six power. The type line reads "Elite Undead wreathed in hellfire" and the rules text is "At the end of your turn, deal 3 damage to each other adjacent unit." Each card's art is a commissioned or licensed actual physical painting. I purchased a print of the art for this card, Chaoswish, to frame and hang on the wall of my living room because Elvira Shakirova (@nextdoorgalaxy.bsky.social) made an incredible piece of art that I love looking at every day.

Chaoswish, a Sorcery: Contested Realm card. It costs 6 mana, requires a threshold of 2 air and 2 water affinity to cast, and has the following rules text: Unique Magic of outrageous fortune. Cast a copy of a random spell for free, ignoring threshold, then the next player may copy Chaoswish. Flavor text follows: From every shattered rule, a new delight spills forth. The art is a mosaic-style collage of shattered fragments depicting a number of scenes but the vibe is a bunch of beautiful women in varying states of undress, dancing frantically amid details that grow gorier and more distressing with every moment of further inspection. That pig's head is bleeding with an eyeball in its mouth. The central woman, her ribs exposed, has a plant threaded through her open ribcage. The grapes in the golden grail next to her hip are held in the mouth of a decapitated head, grayed and blue from rot. The chalice being spilled is as likely blood as wine, the marble bust with a tentacle crawling from its mouth, the pale and unblinking eyes, the disembodied heart dripping blood onto a woman's forehead, the arrows piercing a leg and foot and throat. It's gorgeous and concerning and eerie and the text box of the card is as minimal as possible, and the card is printed without a border, to display as much of the art as possible.

for one thing I like the tactile sense of using a skill I learned very young and have basically only revisited infrequently to do small repairs on clothes but there's something deeply satisfying about pulling embroidery thread through cloth to make something more mine. This feels like a good start.

The standing portrait in front of the tree didn't turn out great, both because of motion blur from a 30-second exposure and because I metered incorrectly and lit the scene kind of weird. Slow film on 4x5 at night is hard to get right. I'm very excited about the good ones.

I didn't take any more quick phone pictures of my camera set up at the various spots I thought were pretty, but I think the project went well. I used my Industar-51 a lot more than I expected; that lens very nearly maxes out the bellows extension on the press camera at infinity.

My plan was to spend that day looking for scenes that expressed or evoked or mirrored some part of how I relate to transness and the choice to engage in the process of becoming. I wanted to make photos that specifically resonated with my sense of where I've been and where I plan to go.

anyway the game is sick as hell and I have a framed print of Elvira Shakirova's Chaoswish on my wall. like look at this card. it's gorgeous.

The art is a painting of a shattered mosaic, depicting kaleidoscopic women dancing, holding hands, in a frenzied panic at a feast with a spilling goblet of wine (or blood) and a decapitated pig's head with an eyeball in its mouth and the central woman's ribs are exposed from a grievous chest wound. The painting is frantic and gory and confusing and breathtakingly beautiful.

I did it. I have the ASIO driver tester working in WINE with just basic ordinary wineasio. Now I just need to configure RS_ASIO and then I'm able to play guitaraoke again.
