don't forget this incredible bit from the comments
A Bluesky comment chain in which Matt Darling makes a fool of himself.

Matt Darling:
That said, it's interesting from a UX perspective that this story is basically "I received $500k in services and was billed 6% of the claim and I am Very Upset."

Optimistic Doomer:
Let's not ignore that $30,000 is a lifechanging amount of money, and could be better spent on raising the actual child by the family. Instead, we have this mess.

Matt Darling:
I don't think $30k is a life-changing amount of money.

Median American born in 1980 will have $2m in income in their lifetime. It's a 1% increase in earnings.

They do advertise an enterprise plan. They call it "Typst for your organization." Their standard paid plan, while not specifically enterprise, does also appear to be intended for medium-sized teams, judging by what it offers.

The point of an OSS license is that anyone can freely use and extend the software, and it can't be taken away. The Apache license is explicitly irrevocable. You don't have to use their web app at all; I certainly don't. I assume its primary audience is enterprise clients (much like overleaf).
A screenshot of part of Typst's Apache-2.0 license. It reads:

   worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of,
