Mary @imaged.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Great idea. Instead of agreeing planning that turfs artists out of the ART building in Edinburgh - to make way for more student flats - can @edinburgh.gov offer serious support? You could find those artists a new property, use some of the tourist tax. Take action to support that community. 000
Reposted by MaryGav @antihippy.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Very mixed feelings about this. The building is really interesting & to lose so much of it for a lack of imagination is a travesty. Mary @imaged.bsky.social · 01/10/2026So demoralising. And the timing is such that the council are right now also asking community artists to bid for tourist tax funding. Why can't they instead see the scale of this, and direct that funding to preserving this space for the groups who are already there, or funding a new space for them? 011
Mary @imaged.bsky.social · 01/10/2026It is, with a handful of flats added; a council cover to hide their shame in giving planning. 110

Mary @imaged.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Understand the sentiment, but the jails are stowed out. How about, as government struggles to fund public services, they fast track a law that would impound the boats and impose immediate hefty fines. If that fails to bring in a large sum with a few months, into the chokey they go? 110

Mary @imaged.bsky.social · 01/10/2026So true. In a city where the council declared a housing emergency and had to be stopped from putting homeless people in illegal accommodation. Tragic enough that they boot out artists who are priced out elsewhere, but criminal that it's for more student flats. Is there a petition or protest? 010
