twitter was ground zero for a lot of the tech CEO insanity we're currently living through because even before covid it let them see how many people hated them and that sowed the seeds of madness

i didn't :) you really need that last word, huh. twisting a clear concise truth that i've been repeating over and over, so you can call it incorrect, is impressively pitiful. blocking now; no more weird "thanks for doing what i said you did!" bullshit

I didn't declare anything of the sort, goodnight

You want that to be true, but you can't disprove what I've been saying all along, which is that the grid, right now, as it stands, cannot physically support it. You desperately need me to be saying something else that disagrees, but I am saying something else in addition to, and supporting, that.

cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
Your diversions went there. The grid cannot physically support it.

cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
One more thing I'd like to mention: these turbines are violating the law, so your 'red tape' excuse is some nonsense. If permitting were the issue, why not use clean energy? Why not do anything else? Because they don't give a shit and are trying to rush this before the bottom falls out.
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
Ah yes, but factories, subdivisions, and hospitals do something valuable. Also, they don't build them in a rush and use dirty energy to make up the difference until 'later'. Additionally, they don't do this with no hope of ever being profitable.

cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
The grid cannot reliably feed these data centers, which use sometimes tenfold the power of traditional data centers. These are facts. You are trying to slide and sneak around this though you know it's true. It's pitiful.
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
So, in other words, it physically can't? It's not built yet, the transformers aren't there, so it physically can't? Not sure why you focused on this, one of many points I've made, especially when you're wrong, but that supports the "AI or thrall" theory.
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
So it physically can? Right now? Then why the turbines? Please explain in detail, as you assume I'm not very smart.
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
That's right. I said it physically can't because it physically can't. This is evidenced by data centers with parking lots full of turbines, which you considered me mentioning a 'shift'. I'm either talking to an AI or somebody enthralled by chatting with one, so yes, goodbye
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
Hey, in order to refute points, you actually have to refute them. I don't think you'll get there, so I can't offer any words of encouragement.
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
Ah, so it's a shift to describe a effect of the grid not supporting data centers? How's that? I'm kidding, I don't want to hear you say the same things over and over again.
000
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
I'm talking about data centers, "right now", that have parking lots full of gas turbine generators. I am talking about people, "right now", that have terrible loud noises from them, 24/7. I am talking about physical reality, right now.
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
It's a physical reality, which you have admitted, multiple times, despite very much not liking it. This is very boring. Goodbye

cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
No, I am remarking upon something that is true right now, and you are trying to slip around it like your life depends upon it (sort of like the people in those hospitals). You're right, the data centers aren't competing with them, and I never said they were. You're the one that compared them.

I have not shifted - the grid cannot physically support it. You're trying to fault me for refuting your deflections, which will not happen. Speaking of those, 'hospitals' (which use backup power to guarantee human life) was a great one. Big chuckle from me.

Air conditioners are useful. "it can't support it" is true, and I'm certainly not ignoring how utility investment works - did you miss when I said that we're paying more for power now? AI is not making money; I'm sure you have a hopeful theoretical about that, too, right?
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
Nobody said it was a conspiracy. AI is making the price of RAM and storage increase. You're not negating any of these points.
000
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
We're not on twitter. It's not a fake economic theory that the price of RAM and storage has gone up.
000
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
No, I said it can't support it, which is correct. I'm not panicking and haven't once mentioned any sort of boycott.
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
Yes, that's one of the points I made. And, according to you, it's true.
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
People don't want this shit in their back yards. People do not think this shit is useful. People do not like to look at this shit. It is not making money and it has an outsized portion of our economy screwed. We pay more for power and ram/storage right now because of it.

You: "nothing has changed but your own dumb opinions, dumbies" Me: "here's how it's actually changed" You: "yeah, but .... so what" Conceding my point but saying "who cares" isn't actually saying anything at all. You are the one that has run out of things to say.

Deflection
110
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
This is vastly incorrect - quite a bit has changed. Data centers built for AI require a lot more power and cooling. They require so much, and are being built in such numbers, that infrastructure cannot support it - hence the gas turbine generators to supplement their intake.
110
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
Okay, using my common sense I hate that shit too. Have a great day
110
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
Nobody is acting like that. Nobody had problems with data centers four years ago when they were for all those things you listed. What changed?
101
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 30/09/2026
Ah yes, of course. If you don't agree with somebody, surely their point must be undeveloped and not nearly as advanced and considered as yours.

Reuters got some of the IPO docs. Anthropic is a total dog of a company. Spent $12.6bn to make $4.6bn in revenue in 2025, $7.33bn of which was compute costs. Operating loss of $8bn. Losses getting worse year over year. Amazing stuff www.reuters.com/business/fin...
Summary
Companies
• Anthropic IPO could value the company at more than $2
trillion
• Anthropic lost $42 billion in 2025
• Al lab spent $7.33 billion on compute and infrastructure last year
• Operating loss widened to $8.06 billion in 2025 from $2.98 billion in 2024
• Execs, industry analysts have expressed concerns over harms of Al tech
Sept 28 (Reuters) - Anthropic is making a massive bet that Al will transform the global economy more profoundly than industrialization, electricity and the internet, according to its IPO prospectus seen by Reuters.
But the cost to get there will be staggering. Anthropic reported a net loss of $42 billion in 2025, and plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing and infrastructure obligations in coming year, according to the
prospectus.

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.
Nichole Hiltz
The Democrats defend the Kennedy Center but not trans people.
A building.

@treewarrior.bsky....
maybe because defending everything about a super small minority of the population is not worth losing to fascists

No, you’re just unable to make the distinction that others are making. We know what data centers traditionally do and we understand the current rush to build more is for another purpose. People are not stupid; they know what the internet is and what servers are.
100
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 12/09/2026
You are talking about the data centers built before, say, 2024, and not in somebody’s back yard, and not with a parking lot full of gas turbine generators. Nobody else is.
000
cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 12/09/2026
This is incorrect. More data centers are being built for AI, and without AI, there would not be a ‘need’. The data centers being built now, that we do not need, also do not have the infrastructure to support them, and so we get more pollution, as well. I could go on, but “you’re wrong” sums it up.

cactus friend @im.thinkingabout.thosbeans.online · 12/09/2026
Just FYI. Those aren't the data centers anyone is talking about when they talk about the data centers that are specifically being made or trying to be made to support generative AI!
