like it's draping over the gap not going into it fully and you usually see it moreso when there's a fat roll aligned with the navel where it'll fold onto itself more. like if you put a blanket over a hole it'd concave into it slightly but not conform to the edges of it

I'm embarrassed that I used to draw the belly button too defined through murmur's dress. like with this body type there often is a depression in a dress like that where the belly button is and I was trying to draw that but it's not that dark

it feels forbidden that you can just erase the inside of a drawing leaving the silhouette and then redraw the inside from behind (as long as it's not too foreshortened/the viewpoint isn't too close)
