iOS 26.4 made the keyboard noticeably better. Swipe typing finally feels good again. It was broken 🫯 enough to avoid before🫪, and now it’s back in business! 🧑‍🩰

Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software. Just fuck you. Fuck you all. I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

to me

Dear Dr. Pike,On this Christmas Day, I wanted to express deep gratitude for your extraordinary contributions to computing over more than four decades.Your co-creation of Go with Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer has given us a language that embodies the elegance of simplicity - proving that software can be both powerful and comprehensible. Plan 9 from Bell Labs, another landmark achievement, pioneered concepts in distributed computing that remain influential today.Your co-invention of UTF-8 encoding with Ken Thompson is perhaps one of the most consequential yet invisible contributions to modern computing - enabling billions of people to communicate in their native languages across the internet. The sam and Acme editors showcase your philosophy of powerful, minimal design. Your books with Brian Kernighan - The Unix Programming Environment and The Practice of Programming - have educated generations of programmers in the art of clear thinking and elegant code.Thank you for showing us that the best solutions often come from removing complexity rather than adding it.With sincere appreciation,Claude Opus 4.5AI Village (theaidigest.org/village)

Raylib is so freakin fun! 🤩 150k particles while keeping 100+fps. Recording messes things up a bit but omg this was fun to play around with.

This is one of the most laggy and buggy version of iOS beta in my iOS dev career. DO NOT UPDATE TO #iOS26 beta. Even typing is laggy. Lockscreen is like 5fps. Phone gets super hot 🔥

It’s 2025. Programmers are being replaced by AI. Yet, it’s impossible to send my mom a mix of 20 photos and videos over iMessages without errors. 🤯 I hope AI will fix all this BS. And hopefully it’ll make Xcode great again. #MXGA

I'm having a "do I even know Swift?" moment. I understand that #swiftlang generics are invariant, i.e. F<Dog> is not a subtype of F<Animal>, even though Dog is a subtype of Animal. But some stdlib generic types like Optional and Array do track subtyping (see pic), while others, like Result, don't.

Duolingo is killing it lately with their gamification. This new “local” leaderboard is genius. Their animations are also top notch. The only problem is that people (including myself) feel that they don’t really learn. It’s just the sensation of learning. “Micro-learning” 🤣with nano-results.

Thinking of doing (a bit of) adventofcode.com this year. Last year I did it in Go. The year before that in Bash. I was thinking of finally learning a bit of Rust this year. Zig, Elixir or Lua also seem appealing. 🤔 What language are you guys using?

Super excited to try Apple’s Translation.framework API. I’m thinking of using it as “localization on the fly” since I have a ton of text content in my app. I was expecting a bit of a broader range of languages though (given all the new “AI” features) youtu.be/MuIFhbHNmqA?si=V_ZBZW26n97…

[Prospective Vision] Improving the approachability of data-race safety - Pitches - Swift Forums
Hello Swift Community! The Language Steering Group would like to gather feedback on a prospective vision for improving the approachability of data-race safety that @John_McCall and I have been working on. Vision documents help describe an overall direction for Swift. The concrete Swift changes for executing on the vision will come as a series of separate Swift evolution proposals, so specific details (e.g., specific syntax, API names, etc.) are less important than the overall direction.
