Just spent my Christmas money on all but 4 balls of yarn for my January cast on. A 4ply jumper, for next Christmas/a festive day in July! Something to make January a little less shit.

The Magpie's Eye. Beautiful buttons, lovely note, sweeties (mums fav which she's swiped), and a beautiful extra button that omg I need a whole set! It's a dreich day here and they look so purple and moody in this light! I love them.

The cardi in progress, and buttons not yet arrived. This piece will be called the Icy January Cardi.

A top down, hand knit cardigan. The sleeve stitches are on hold and the body is around 10cm longer than the underarm.

The cardi is lay on a black glitter carpet that is showing various shades of dark grey to black.

The cardi is knit from 2 yarns held together. A cream yarn with turquoise and darker blue flecks, and a light, sky blue mohair. Together they form a cooler toned fabric, less cream, more blue. The blue flecks stand out against the cool cream/blue background.

Some buttons rest on a persons hand. They are a mix of silver, turquoise and purple glitter.

Finished this festive number a couple of days ago. Apart from the fasten the hood opening with 'neat little stitches', I'm not a neat little stitches person at the best of times. Yes there's a few wonky bits but nothing big enough to warrant redoing it. First thing that isn't socks!

Squishy post is here! My sister (who manages my bank at my request) allows me to purchase yarn for one project, when that one is nearly done I can get another. This is to make an icy cardi. Drops Fiesta 42 - Ice Crystals and Drops Lid Silk 08 - Light Blue Jeans.

16 stitches decreased. 144 to go. I prefer decreases to increases but fuck me, acrylic on aluminium needles is a sensory hell. Any wonky stitches are staying, I can't re knit this. Gonna look sick in my sparkly red hooded jumper cutting about here and Lanzarote this coming festive season.

Pausing at 1 body, 1.5 arms of my red sparkly jumper to get my sisters Christmas gift going. A hoody in black and gold thread. But no thread in any of the rib so it doesn't itch her. Just black stitches, 188 of them, as we move into the darker months, and I live at 57.169° N.

So I'm having fun, and this is how I discover all my devices have different screens. The red colour looks, depending on the screen, festive, like bricks, or dirty. That's quite a variation!

I finally picked this up again! Totally forgot about it. I finished the last couple of pattern rounds while decreasing, thought to myself I should really sort out my marker chain so I can easily see it's row 4 and 10 with the cable changes. The chain that has a yellow marker 4th and 10th.

A large chain of stitch markers signify the beginning of the round and also which row of the pattern I'm on.

So it turns out there isn't really any ruffled, festive, ankle socks or patterns for them. No worries, I know lots of knitting things, but no ability to visualise is kicking my ass. I know what I want, I've tried to draw it, but I can't draw. So I'm just trying, and I'm ready to tink.

So I'm a silly goose with total aphantasia! My brain couldn't parse how big a case of 10cm long needle shanks would be. It was posted through the letter box. Stupid brain is all CPU, no GPU, not even onboard. Anyway: holy fuck it's adorable!

Can a political party be done for harassment? These are all addressed mail, all received in the last 10 calendar days. All premised on the idea I have any desire to save oil and gas (my desire is to see it ended today), or have a Tory representative.

Four addressed letters from the Conservative Party/candidate for the Aberdeen south by-election. They all say vote to save oil and gas in Aberdeen. They all say vote conservative to beat the SNP. All 4 letters were received in less than 10 days.

To be able to bend down to wash my legs and feet. I spent months sat outside the shower poking just my legs in to wash, months before I'd fully get in it again. And new fears of falling in showers and of tiles in general! Landlords should never ignore when a problem with grouting is reported!

Slow progress as I now have access to play games and I'm a little distracted. Love that it's such a simple stitch repeat, yet it looks so good. Broken seed stitch socks. MC: Drops Fabel in Black, CC: West Yorkshire Spinners signature 4ply in Summer Sunset.

That took longer than expected. 20cm dpns are a pita to knit toes with 8 stitches per needle. So the pair with eye of partridge heel were knit this year, 2026. The single sock with slip stitch heel was knit in 2020, one of the first socks I ever knit! It's going to be 24 on my advent calendar!

My stroll to the polls shorties. Using up the remainder of a ball of yarn, I made it all the way down to the toes before running out.

I just saw a TikTok, Glasgow based lady, who had a Tory leaflet and noted it mentioned the SNP 22 times, but nothing about what they will do. I decided to check all the election materials received here. Quite interesting! No Green or Tory material received so far. 1/2

Knitting my Christmas slippers because they're easy, fast and fun. Aiming to do it in less than 4 hours for this pair. One red sole, green upper, the other the reverse.

2 rows of garter stitch sit on a 6.0mm circular needle. The knitting it flat and the yarn is Drops Snow (56) Christmas Red. There are 2 yellow stitch markers either side of the central green stitch marker denoting where the toe box will be. A peach marker is visible to mark the side that is increased.

The knitting sits on an A4 lined pad on which I have numbered the rows of the sole and instep, in columns. The first 2 rows of the sole are ticked off.

He is the late 80's early 90's version with lighter, brighter green skin and a slightly more muted orange mask, elbow, wrist and knee wraps. Just one sock knitted so far, I got distracted and started a slipper too. During FaceTimes with my mum 'oh I like that yarn', 'that would be a lovely cardigan', 'how many meters is each ball?', 'do you have a pattern or do you need one?' So apparently I'm knitting a cardi soon!

Do surveys, get money, buy yarn. Who needs food, with yarn I get to knit it, then wear it, multi use. Some DK for cosy, rainy day socks. Black and white for turtle eyes and roving for more slippers, festive slippers. The best bit about DK socks? They knit up so fast!

The bottom row are 6 balls. The first 2 are Drops Fabel in shade 100 - off white, and shade 400 - black. Then there are 4 balls of Drops Snow. 2 are shade 56 - Christmas Red, a bright Christmas red. The other 2 are shade 25 - Hot Green, a very blue green that is not the colour I was expecting from the pictures online!
