Kort geleden nam @leol.bsky.social afscheid bij het IISG, vandaag houdt hij zijn afscheidscollege bij Universiteit Leiden. Hij blijft echter onvermoeibaar doorgaan met het corrigeren van onwaarheden over migratie, zoals in het mooie interview dat recentelijk in de Volkskrant stond.

HisGIS.nl is live! De afgelopen jaren hebben we ontzettend hard gewerkt om dit mogelijk te maken en ik ben echt blij met het resultaat. HisGIS was als digitaal geesteswetenschappelijk project altijd al uniek in de wereld, maar met deze nieuwe interactieve website zijn we echt klaar voor de toekomst.

In the Swiss Jura of the 19th century, a group of willful watchmakers were at work. As well as making timepieces, they were anarchists. Keti Koti - Dia di Abolishon - Emancipation Day De slavernij in Suriname en het Caribisch gebied werd in 1863 formeel afgeschaft. Desondanks moesten tot slaafgemaakte mensen nog tien jaar verplicht op plantages blijven werken. De button van Perez Jong Loy uit onze collectie verwijst naar dit feit.
