The villain of last night's dream was a Tennessee homeschooling vampire cult. Pentecostals, the lot of 'em. The only hope of saving my life and the lives of my family was to preach a sermon. Surprised them all with my knowledge of 4-part harmony and theological insights from AC/DC's "Who Made Who."

The orchestration of cinematography, practical and visual effects, and editing produces a compelling nightmare scenario, but director Rob Savage and screenwriter Nathan Elston keep us firmly focused on the beating heart of the film: the choices a broken family makes to stay broken together.

OTHER MOMMY is the opposite of slow burn horror - it gets scary fast, and, mercifully, avoids the trope of having people not believe what we all saw them see with their own eyes. It's both fantastical & frightening, and grisly enough to warrant caution before recommending to the casual moviegoer.

First time seeing either Off the Reservation in the wild OR these B&N exclusives. Very cool. Signed em up. And the rest of the SGJ stuff. In Fairfax, I think? I see “12193” on the door. Anyway, this was a short walk from Chipotle. That being after I DoorDash’d some chipotle to the wrong hotel.
