I said I’d be back with an article on this. July 2026 marks a significant month in the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles) adoption in Ireland. EV sales are up 61.06% in 2026, making them the #1 fuel type, overtaking all other fuel types!

Progress has been good to date on EV charging rollout in Ireland. But more does need to be done to help speed this up, and AC charging at ends of journeys are important pieces of the puzzle! Happy to contribute to this piece by Conor Pope on behalf of @ievasso.bsky.social

CHAdeMO to CCS update, supplier chosen - We have a supplier in place, and the first round of a group buy is kicking off. Only those on our system will be emailed, so make sure you are on the list, as the initial group buy is closing at 23:59 on the 5th of April! So don't delay!!

We participated in the @ZEVIreland Stakeholder Forum yesterday. Two key points were that much infrastructure's coming this year, & that highly anticipated legislative change can be expected in several months (yes, that includes cross-pavement charging)...

More fast chargers on the way for Limerick City and County Council as Weev have started installs. This one's on O'Callaghan Strand.

Through our engagement with GEVA, The Hungarian E-mobility Association (ELMOB) have shared a very interesting test they have done taking 31 EVs and driving them on the motorway (at proper 130 km/h speed, the legal limit in Hungary) until they died, at around 0°C. 1/4

Today's International Day of Persons with Disabilities, so we'd like to draw attention to ZEVI's Universal Design Guidelines, which "aim to make EV charging infrastructure accessible to all users, summarising key considerations when designing, installing and operating EV charging infrastructure"

Happy to report that ePower took on Aldi, i.e. Shell Recharge, nationwide. A number of locations remain to be moved over though majority will appear for you on their app at this point.

Budget 2026 is now out. A quick summary of EV relevant changes are: - Extended 9% VAT on electric to 31/12/2030; - Extended €5k VRT Relief to 31/12/2026; - BIK OMV reduction of €30k in 2026, €15k in 2027, €2.5k in 2028, €0 thereafter;
