Permian synapsid #Moschops squares up! I think they have an uncanny-valley charm when viewed from our mammalian perspective, and would have been very intimidating in person. If the attitudes of our big herbivorous mammals are anything to go by, it would probably be best to keep your distance!

A profusion of sketchy #chelicerates! I've become very fond of these this year thanks to @trigonotarbida.bsky.social, all of them are so charming and adorable in their own way!

An older reconstruction I made in 2020 of #Gordodon, a Permian synapsid with a sail and unusual buck teeth that differentiate it from its better-known relative Edaphosaurus. I'm still really proud of the colours and lighting I had going on in this piece!

I made this (now very outdated!) reconstruction of the bizarre ankylosaur #Spicomellus when the first fossil rib was described in 2021, and further remains have shown it was much more intimidating than my very speculative early guess! I'm still fond of this cute little friend though.

#Abditosaurus, a #sauropod #dinosaur described in 2022 from the most complete European titanosaur skeleton found so far. Its name, meaning "forgotten reptile", references the fact that its remains were partially excavated in the 1950s before being left for decades when funding was lost.

You should be able to submit an image of the animal within the justification of a phd application... please fund research on this animal because 1) it is very cute 😊

Watched the documentary #Dinosaurs of the Frozen Continent recently and found it pretty enjoyable and interesting! Had a lot about the process of finding and extracting fossils from Antarctica that I didn't know which was neat. Anyway here's some #Cryolophosaurus #paleoart inspired by that watch!

Some #papercraft art from last month that I made as a gift for my bestie after they came home from working in Japan! It's a pair of rock ptarmigans (Lagopus muta), which are the official bird of Nagano Prefecture. They're a beautiful bird that also makes fantastic noises (look them up)

Giant cephalopods were another childhood fascination of mine. Who wouldn't be entranced by statements like "The squid has never been seen alive in its natural habitat..."? I always hoped I'd get to see someday. Now we're getting those glimpses, and it's wonderful.

The floof squad! In order: Zhenyuanlong suni, Daurlong wangi, Iyuku raathi, and Sanxiasaurus modaoxiensis I just love feathered #dinosaurs so much, and I like the challenge of taking inspiration from patterns that tend to appear in modern birds without copying any one species wholesale! #paleoart

While I'm new here, I thought I'd show off some of my favourite art I've done in the past! This is one of my very proudest #paleoart pieces, a multi-layered paper #lightbox rendition of the Bulldog Shale fossil formation, from the Early Cretaceous of what is now South Australia!

Okayyy artist introduction time! Hey, my name's Tas and I'm an Australian palaeontology student and palaeoartist. I've been captivated by prehistory almost my whole life and trying to draw it for just as long! I mostly do digital, pencil and papercraft work but anything else is fun too!
