“Up for a couple sparring rounds with ol’ me?”💪🏾🐺

A giant red wolf named Jól crouches in a ready position. With a toothy grin, he addresses one of his students out of frame, Briar, with a wager:

“Next batch of lemon tarts will be on the house…ONLY if you can knock me flat on my tail.”

Lore Bit:
Briar is notorious for restraining themselves when sparring with good ol’ Jól. Whether it’s from fear or lack of motivation; it depends on how the wind blows that day. But, it is known throughout Silvergrove that Briar has a ravenous sweet tooth.
On rare occasions, Jól will wager a pastry that briar loves as motivation. Whether Biar is successful or not, there’s at least a sweet reward for them at the end of the session.

it’s a little inaccurate to what i drew in the pictures, but maybe something like this

a sketch of a village built around a river, viewed from above. the main section of the village is on an island in the middle of the river, with more buildings built on the outer shores. the large building in the middle of the village somewhat resembles a tulou. the area is surrounded by cliffs.

AH I don't think I shared them here before? 🥹 small warm-up exercises I did back in 2023! The photo references came from photoshoots for LolitaWeadrobe 😌 It's a really good exercise! #art #cuteart

photo turned a colored chibi sketch: an elegant lady leaning gracefully on a table. She's putting cherries close to her lips like she's about to eat them.

photo turned a colored chibi sketch: orange haired bunny girl sitting in a chair nonchalantly. She's wearing a very pretty lolita-style dress with rabbit characters along the edge

photo turned a colored chibi sketch: a young girl kneeling in a grass to give a little sheep a kiss on a cheek.

Plein air painting from earlier this year. I was beyond astonished I made it out without being coated with ticks or dying of poison ivy.

Photo of an oil painting being held in front of a wildflower meadow and marsh and woods beyond

Close up of the oil painting- features a bank of Queen Anne’s lace in front of a marshy area and forest

🌱 Black Bean Leshy 🌱 A druid; one with nature #art #cuteart #illustration #leshy

Illustration: this black bean leshy has two forms. One is humanoid with an olive green poncho and big leaf ears and a black bean for a face. The other is more like a dog with a split pea pod face. Below there are renderings of the leaves, flower, green pea pods and dried yellow pods showing the black beans within.

If anyone’s looking for alternatives to GoodReads, I highly recommend StoryGraph. It’s owned by a black woman, and the platform is so much more accessible and easy to use.

It's nice to see so many people come here! It may be time for a little reintroduction then. :) I'm Zoe, I mostly paint fantasy illustrations, and I love cats.

There's a figure standing upright, with its face covered by a thin, dark fabric dissolving into a swarm of insects. The figure wears a hat with a golden replica of one insect and holds a golden ceremonial knife it's using to slice its palm open, releasing yet more of these insects. The bugs are black and golden, winged and have large open jaws.

A botanist with a love for felines gently reprimands one of his cats for the latest mischievous deed.

A dark skinned woman stands in front of a broken blue stained glass window. She’s crying but has a somewhat serene expression. The woman’s skin is crisscrossed by cracks repaired with gold. She’s surrounded by wilted flowers. In her hands are two lively swallows made of light. The light coming from the birds swirls around the image, giving life to the previously wilted flowers.
On the back side of the book cover we see two more birds dancing around a broken vase, they too are reviving flowers with their light.

Sunset scene with a painter fully engrossed in his work. He's covered in paint smudges, and he's absentmindedly feeding a de-winged horsefly to his harshest critic: a toad.

I finally feel like people start to see my work again so I’m sharing my best art of this year so far again (I think). It’s rising, my biggest oil painting and I’ve learned a lot ☺️ Hope you like her! #oilpainting #oilpaint #paint #oils #angel #epic #originalart

An oil painting of an an angel rising from a dark place, in that place hands are following her, trying to push her down.
Parts of her body are torn , getting melted back together like in a re birth.
She is rising to the light and covered in red and gold cloth. The hand of the painter is next to the photo.

Fear stops us from creating. Fear of failure. Fear of judgment. Fear of wasting time. Fear of being misunderstood. But what are you more afraid of—staying stuck or finally stepping out of your comfort zone and getting results?

My method for not burning myself out while drawing is to have multiple pieces at the same time. When I'm stuck on one artwork I can switch to the other and still make progress. Even if its just one little brush stroke. This way drawing became more casual.

A lot of artists who are switching social media and having to start over are probably scared about traction coming to their shops. I know I am! I just ask that we try to support artists who rely on their work for income. Reposts and likes go a long way on a shop opening post.
