In Super Mario 64, tiny slivers of exposed out-of-bounds areas will cause Mario to bonk if he collides with them. However, the exact same scenario in Super Mario Sunshine is much more cruel to Mario. Here, instead of merely bonking, Mario will break his spine.

Pixel art from the game I did art/animation for, The Monster of the Bayou. There is a bright moon in the grey sky with the slight reflecting on the water below which moves into a shallow area of the land around it, with twisted dark trees, Spanish moss hanging from their boughs, and a large amount of vegetation, moss covered rocks and fallen trees. A water bird, perhaps a crane, is stood on a low, twisted tree, silhouetted against the sky, one yellow eye gleaming.

Pixel art of Garamaudo bauciensis, a freshwater mosasaur species from France, with an elongated reptilian body, wide tail and short limbs. Two are in freshwater, with rocks and plants around them, roots poking down from above, and light creating patterns over the sediment. One is facing towards the surface, mouth open, and the other is twisted, moving lower in the water.

Pixel art of Dunkleosteus terrelli, the ancient armored fish, swimming through the water, above the sediment and rocks which have light patterns on them. It has a shorter body and tail, armor plates on the face and head, and armored mouth parts, all with the light patterns playing over its body.
