Got back from #CSSday. Apart from the great talks I had a wonderful time. I was being proposed to by @joshtumath.uk with a beer can, had very important discussions about soft hands, numbers of duvets, crochet and cross-stitch and many more. Very happy to be part of this lovely community.

Two men laughing at a conference. One kneels on the floor in a playful proposal pose, holding up a can of beer toward the other, who stands by a wall covered in posters and project notes.

A few of you asked for the pattern for the wine-glass cozy I wore at #CSSday. My crochet-pattern debut — here it is! Have fun with it, and I'd love to see your results if you make one. 🧶 schick.link/pattern @utilitybend.com @lea.verou.me @kevinpowell.co @sjoy.lol @ohhelloana.blog

@bell.bz They dressed up. They put on their best little chili hat. It’s almost Christmas — they’re basically festive now — and you’re still pretending they don’t exist. Brutal.

A bit more niche, but next to fancy things like scroll-driven animations, CSS also introduced new math functions like round() and mod(). With them, you can take a time value like 1045 (without the colon) and calculate the minutes passed since midnight. bsky.app/profile/ichi...

.session {
/* Starting time 10:45 written without : */
--start: 1045;
/* Extract the hour part with roun()
(→ 10 * 60 = 600 minutes) */
--hours-to-minutes: calc(round(down, var(--start) / 100, 1) * 60);
/* Extract the minute part with mod()
(→ 45 minutes) */
--minutes: mod(var(--start), 100);

/* Total minutes from midnight */
--total-minutes: calc(var(--hours-to-minutes) + var(--minutes));
}

Build a multi-stage timetable for a conference — fully in modern CSS. Each hour grows automatically to fit all sessions. 🍾 heavy use of subgrid. 🍾 round() and mod() to place sessions accurately 🍾 scroll-driven animations for sticky stage headings

Has anyone else seen this in iOS 26? Sticky and fixed elements shift slightly out of view when scrolling down, then snap back when scrolling up. I made a demo to test it: cdpn.io/pen/debug/Qw... Curious if others can reproduce.

Getting ready for CSS Day, part 2! I’ll have some stickers and a few owl shirts with me — if you’re around and want one, come say hi.

Two folded T-shirts lie side by side on a white surface — one teal, one light pink. Both shirts feature an embroidered version of the "lobotomized owl," a quirky character by accessibility advocate Heydon Pickering, with red star-shaped eyes and a stitched mouth. Scattered around are various colorful stickers: two bright pink ones with the text “CSS Café,” two white ones styled like CSS code that read “.sticker { position: fixed; }”, and several playful character stickers, including blue creatures, raindrops, and a spiky-haired pink face. There’s also a small roll of stickers in the corner. The scene conveys a fun, creative atmosphere with a strong web developer and accessibility culture vibe.

Live goal achieved: I (well, mostly my slides) appeared in one of @miriam.codes’s talks—just minutes after I gave that exact talk myself. 🤯

I built a little tool to check color contrast across an entire palette. 🎨 • Supports both WCAG 2.0 and APCA
 • See how all colors compare at a glance • Import/Export CSS or JSON variables
 • Make sure your palette works for everyone Try it: palette-tester.9elements.com
