I love you, letterboxd reviewers, but if I read one more review that says Cookie Queens didn't take a stance on its subject matter...
Olive, in Cookie Queens, saying 'It's technically child labor' about the Girl Scout Cookie program.

Letterboxd informs me that it’s available from lots of places. So if you don’t want to give your money to Amazon, there are several other companies that are just as evil to choose from, lol

Mr. Bovino certainly has been busy since Trump fired him, right?
Google News search of "greg bovino," showing he's going around to lots of far-right events in the last few months.

So naturally, when Greg fucking Bovino showed up at the bakery today, Mr. Manolo kicked him the fuck out.

I just want to say that Noah Kahan accidentally has the absolute best concert merch for programmers.
T-shirt that simply reads, “THE LAST OF THE BUGS”

I understand _why_ this works this way, but is there an option to readd the "I understand the SSL cert is fucked up in some dumb little way, but it's highly unlikely this site is actually compromised to the point where I shouldn't even view it, load it anyway" button?
Firefox warning page text:

"Be careful. Something doesn’t look right.

Firefox spotted a potentially serious security issue with www.msnbc.msn.com. Someone pretending to be the site could try to steal things like credit card info, passwords, or emails.

www.msnbc.msn.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

What makes the site look dangerous?

The site is set up to allow only secure connections, but there’s a problem with the site’s certificate. It’s possible that a bad actor is trying to impersonate the site. Sites use certificates issued by a certificate authority to prove they’re really who they say they are. Firefox doesn’t trust this site because its certificate isn’t valid for www.msnbc.msn.com. The certificate is only valid for: *.azureedge.net.
What can you do about it?

This specific point has strong Zune vibes. "We built some tech for this weird corner case of _talking to people_."
Interview with Steve Jobs, from Newsweek:

QUESTION: Microsoft has announced its new iPod competitor, Zune. It says that this device is all about building communities. Are you worried?

ANSWER: In a word, no. I've seen the demonstrations on the Internet about how you can find another person using a Zune and give them a song they can play three times. It takes forever. By the time you've gone through all that, the girl's got up and left! _You're much better off to take one of your earbuds out and put it in her ear. Then you're connected with about two feet of headphone cable._

Literally did this when I accidentally dropped and broke my expensive System76 laptop. Went on eBay and got a Thinkpad T420 w/ 20GB RAM, plus 2 new batteries, for 138.06 USD, including shipping. Installed the big-ass SSD from the old laptop. Less powerful, but has been working great for over a year!

Can we bring _at least_ this level of whimsy back to operating systems? On Haiku, if your app crashes, the confirm button says "Oh no!" unless you choose "Debug," in which case it changes to "Oh yeah!"

There was a request submitted for cookies for Australian Shepherds. Nice try, Clementine. (But the do-si-dos are dog-friendly: peanut butter and oatmeal! So who am I to say if someone makes demands via PayPal?)

See, this is a popular misunderstanding, William. The doctor is actually named Frankenstein, not the monster.

Rest in peace, Tom Stoppard, you absolute fucking legend.
PLAYER: They're hardly divisible, sir--well, I can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and I can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and I can do you all three concurrent or consecutive, but I can't do you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory--they're all blood, you see.

GUIL: Is that what people want?

PLAYER: It's what we do.

I probably encouraged The Algorithm to show me nothing but this by replying to DHH on Twitter, but afaict everyone over there is like "we're not gonna take it anymore, I'm renaming the git default branch to take the fight to those bastards," and I'm like
"you need to calm down."

I’m becoming obsessed with articles written for an audience that sat still for 4 hours of TV and didn’t understand a moment of it. Can they actually read this article?

Except Rolling Stone, that just came right out and called the dude a sex pest:
Rolling Stone article screenshot: “That great popping sound you may have heard ripple across New York City and beyond Tuesday night around 10:30 p.m. wasn't champagne. It was the sound of a thousand Republican heads exploding at the news that 67-year-old accused sex pest and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo had conceded the Democratic mayoral primary to Zohran Mamdani, the 33-year-old Democratic Socialist who captured New Yorkers' imagination”

With David Lynch's passing, everyone is posting the "fix your hearts or die" quote, which I love so much it's written on my laptop...but this week, my mind is with Major Briggs.
