Went to a pub quiz last night. QM didn’t give any scores at half time or the end. Reason? He didn’t want anyone with a low score to get upset. Give me strength. #brokenbritain .

Hey, Farage, what’s next? Doxxing firemen because they rescue immigrants from a fire started by your sick followers? And they’re paid! Why aren’t they traitors?

There’s something clearly mentally wrong with a man who spends his life publicly defaming his enemies with made-up rhetoric and then cries “fake news” and does this. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/18/b...

Trump Says He Has Banned CNN, MS NOW and Politico From White House
The president cited reporting from the outlets that he deemed “fake news.” It was unclear how such a ban would be enforced or defended in court.

Anyone else think this £72m is a win/win for Reform? Either they’re allowed to keep the money, or they get to play the victim and blame “the establishment “ again.

Re Trump declaring himself a “High IQ President”. Has he taken an IQ test lately? I have. When I was younger, I scored 160+. Now? At 66, it’s 140 or less. It’s just age. Trumo is much older than I am, and lacks logic, foresight and coherence. High IQ President? And I’m the Queen of Sheba.

You know what annoys me (apart from everything)? People who think “descry” and “decry” are synonyms, and imagining it makes them look intellectual using the former when they mean the latter.

For every “Christian” doxxing RNLI volunteers: “O Trinity of love and power, our brethren shield in danger’s hour; from rock and tempest, fire and foe, protect us wheresoe'er they go: thus evermore shall rise to Thee glad hymns of praise from land and sea.”

Actor Noel Clarke has been charged with sexual offences. How unwise it was of him to sue The Guardian. Anything exposed by the paper’s lawyers will have helped build the criminal case against him.

Loads of ancient pigs on Twitter shouting about how someone whose parents might have fought in the war is entitled to beat a woman with a stick at a so-called party conference.

So, Farage claims Widdecombe was the “most significant woman politician since Thatcher”. Seriously? More than May or Truss? Actual Prime Ministers? She was a minor figure only briefly a minister. Dozens are more significant. No problem with Ann. Big problem with rewriting history.

Some years ago I was involved in quasi-legal proceedings. Lots of them. “It’s a witch hunt” “It’s a kangaroo court” “The people judging are corrupt”. They said. Just like Farage. And you know what? They were lying. They were guilty as sin. Just like Farage. Don’t be taken in.

Oh no! Ski Sunday is being axed. The unkindest cut of all! Haven’t watched it since 1979, obvs, but that’s not the point.

The final line of the Byline Time’s article on Arday, Cambridge, Racists and all-round unpleasantness is, I think, telling.

Banned from Twitter for a week! My crime? Violent speech, which consisted of pointing out that someone who died from a heart attack looked like a man who was going to have a heart attack. Freedom of Speech, eh, Musky?

A propos of nothing at all, does the expression “no-mark”, meaning an unimportant person, derive from a mis-interpretation of “nomarch”, an ancient Egyptian word for someone in charge of a nome (province)?

For many readers of a certain age, the joy of the new “John Le Carre” novel is not any intrinsic merit, more the arrival of familiar faces. There’s Bernard Hepton, Ian Richardson, Beryl Reid, and, best of all, held off until halfway through, Michael Jayston. Old friends, all welcome.
