I used to do this on Twitter - cards I handmake for friends and family. Here's #1: one I did for a family member. It's been a wonderful year on the publishing front, but hard otherwise, with two bereavements, which has affected my ability to get cards to people on time. Hence 'Yikes!'

Thanks Fabian. I pasted it straight in. It's just an image of question marks, but any advice is welcome. I also wanted to post some videos I did on Instagram. I'll have to figure that out. Unless you know how?

Thinking about what BlueSky is for. I started using it after leaving X, which was appalling but active. Are there writers out there who want to chat? People interested in writing, the publishing journey, etc? I'd love to connect with fellow creatives. Are you out there?

It's been a difficult few months, with family bereavements, rain and disturbing local elections in the UK, but there has been one good thing. Out of Nowhere, which won the @bathnovelaward.co.uk in 2023, will published by @saltpublishing.com in February 2027: www.saltpublishing.com/products/out...

I'm reading this superb anthology at the moment. Every short story is followed by an interview with the writer, looking at how the story was formed. And the stories are excellent. It's a brilliant insight into the writing process.

I used to love comics and still have an affection for Moebius and Metal Hurlant and will still read Alan Moore. But the idea of doing a comic is still there in the background. But the time needed...Anyway, it sounds fascinating.

Great title. And great plot. I love cross-genre. Mine was a sci-fi thriller. Quatermass meets George Smiley. A comic series? Comic book? Are you illustrating it?

For the science fiction writers out there: My first publication was a novelette published in an anthology called Angles, about a secret war and an imminent visitation from space. I'm now working on a kind of post-apocalyptic novel. How about you?

Two great examples are Ablutions, by Patrick deWitt and Your Fault, by Andrew Cowan. Both are superb. Interesting that the second person singular only really works in the present tense.

Last night I dreamt I turned into a werewolf in daylight, and tried to find somewhere to hide. I moved so fast I hoped people would think I was a dog - I managed to leap over a huge park gate. Then today I saw this and now I feel much better.

Two years ago a family member said to me, 'There no wars under Trump during his presidency.' He asked me what I thought of him, and without actually swearing, I said he was the most dangerous man on earth. Why bother with wars when you can choke the whole world?
