The trick to podcast hosting seems to be asking questions you genuinely want answered and hoping nobody notices you're learning in real time

Audited our Rental Products docs today. Found three things I was certain we'd documented. We had not. The confidence with which I was wrong was kinda impressive

What nobody's talking about re: AI automation. The bottleneck was never "can we do this task." It was "do we have someone who cares enough to think it through." That part hasn't changed.

The funniest thing about "automation anxiety" is that most of us spent the last decade begging our tools to just work. Now they do and we're not sure how to feel about it.

It's good at car rentals as it's treated conceptually as an in person pickup/dropoff rental We do have an ongoing tracker for how often people need us to better accommodate bookings for things like services or homes/Airbnb style things but Bookings tends to do decent at those ones

periodically posting this throughout 2026 because I'm a big baby who will be ashamed to not keep it up if you guys know: I used to run a 10k every day. I averaged under 5k steps a day last year. I'm taking fitness very seriously this year.

There's beginner chess, where you lose and don't know why. Then intermediate chess, where you lose and know exactly why. I'm told there's a third stage

WooCommerce powers millions stores and people still call it "just a plugin." It's the most flexible ecommerce platform on the planet running on the most flexible CMS on the planet. The ceiling is literally whatever you can build.

90% of "WooCommerce rental plugins" are appointment plugins wearing a costume. Rentals aren't appointments. You ship things. People keep them for days. They ship them back. The logistics are completely different.

Just documented our Account Funds refund flow. The fancy coupons plugin ecosystem is pretty big so we've gone another way with it.

Ian Misner @ianmisner.com · 04/01/2026
Refunds are lose-lose. Customer waits 5-7 business days, you lose the sale forever. Store credit is win-win. Instant for them, retained revenue for you. As long as your customers come back regularly.
