The most important concept I encountered at the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI this week: algorithmic agnotology by Dr. Nelson Agnotology is the study of manufactured ignorance, not just "we don't know yet," but the deliberate production of not-knowing as a corporate strategy.

I would love to think along side any historians working on preserving historical memory, records, and archives in the age of AI. When mass manipulation of info is possible, how do we make sure the records we have can be authenticated, traceable, and withstand multiple chain of custodies? 🗃️

Hi, I’m a PhD Candidate at Harvard and the Founder of Analog Social . My writing explores how history, ideas, and technology shape our understanding of what it means to be human. Looking to connect with more people chatting about Ai, the humanities , and digital wellness #ai #tech

AI companies are running out of data, humanists hold the key and thus the power on the future of AI. This is my AI collapse thesis. Shortly after sharing this on Meta platforms I was accused of not being human and my accounts (100k+) were shut down. #ai

Data like archives are not neutral. It's important to include humanists in conversations on AI.

I am convinced now more than ever that the key to better research and discovery is semantic search engines. I cannot describe in proper words how painful it is to try to find something that you know exists, but are unable to locate due to outdated systems. Every database and library should switch.

Microsoft Word has been acting up a lot for me recently, so I need a new place to write my dissertation. Has anyone used Scrivener? What are your thoughts? What writing software would you recommend? #skyhistorians #writingcommunity

I’ve spent 2 years trying to track down a primary source book. Only about 5 surviving copies exist in the world. Then I finally reached out to my librarian and she was able to track down a copy within a week. For every of historian, there are librarians making our work possible. 🗃️

One of the best, unputdownable trade press books I've ever read on the British Empire is Uncommon Wealth: Britain and the Aftermath of Empire by Kojo Koram. I read it almost in one sitting, the only thing that interrupted me was the fact that I had to go teach a section. 🗃️

It never gets old, but the fact that I get to wake up every morning and be a historian is such a blessing. I spend all day working with academic historians, then evenings and weekends working on public history content. I couldn't have asked for a better life 🗃️

My Harvard ID is a photo of me when I was 19years old. Apparently I’m not allowed to change it, but it’s still okay because Harvard had changed me. I’ve spent over a decade at #Harvard working as staff, research assistant, teaching fellow, now a PhD candidate. Wearing my crimson with pride 🗃️

Before there were hashtags or podcasts, there were typewriters in basements. In 1980s Czechoslovakia, the underground press spread banned ideas and inspired a peaceful revolution. Here’s the story of how paper and ink cracked a regime: substack.com/home/post/p-... Ep 3. of The Great Gathering 🗃️

We're losing our humanity because we've constantly devalued and defunded the humanities. Those "silly little poems", fiction books, music scores, and history lessons help instill basic human decency.
