My favorites from this list are definitely Thelma Ritter, Agnes Moorhead, and Maggie Smith. I think Thelma is the ultimate scene-stealer because nearly every role she played was a "Thelma Ritter type." When you're that indispensable as a "type," you are a scene stealer.

I don't think I am drawn to darkness itself, but to characters who are touched by darkness. This is why I like fantasy fiction and Anne Rice's work. With a character like Lestat, you can explore the darker side of human experience in a way that is socially acceptable: vampires are inhuman.

I am not sure if it resonates with me from personal experience, but it is definitely something I gravitate towards - characters touched by darkness. This is why I assumed he would be playing either Glorfindel or Celeborn. I am glad he is playing Celeborn because he is such a simp for Morfydd.

I think his portrayal of Vecna/Henry Creel on Stranger Things has shown that he is gifted at portraying beautiful people touched by darkness. In the case of Creel, his psyche was twisted. In the case of Celeborn, he has survived several genocides, but has retained his humanity.

Apple is pretty tight about productions, too. I think Foundation is an incredibly slick show that releases new seasons fairly regularly. Of course, as someone who grew up cutting his teeth on shows like Xena, NOTHING will recapture the efficiency of that period.
