A shocking story by @danielleherbert.bsky.social about @gwr.com’s treatment of wheelchair user Phoebe Tesoriere: she was left to crawl - literally - through a carriage because the promised ramp was not available. And then GWR took NINE MONTHS to apologise. Why so long? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Caerphilly wheelchair user 'had to crawl' off GWR train from London
Phoebe's mum says watching the incident was "traumatic" and left her feeling "helpless".

Interesting article, covering far more than the headline suggests.

Revealed: how companies ‘secretly’ use billions of litres of public water in drought-hit England
Exclusive: As millions of people face hosepipe bans, many companies are not required to report, let alone cut, use of public supply Less than 1% of businesses in England use more water than the daily needs of 10 million people, as millions of households face hosepipe bans and three-quarters of the country is in drought. Businesses across England use 2.6bn litres a day from the public water supply, which includes potable and non-potable water provided by water companies. In total, businesses account for about 30% of public supply use, with two-thirds of their consumption in water-stressed areas, according to Mosl, the organisation that operates England’s business water market. A fascinating example of (stupid) misuse of AI in a legal case, and the terrific work done by the judge to unpack it. Thanks for posting, @davidallengreen.bsky.social

This is a good initiative, @WillNorman.co.uk, but existing signage is poor. With bolder signage, you’d 1) promote School Streets better as a good thing 2) reduce the risk that drivers won’t notice, drive through anyway, get annoyed, then argue against School Streets www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

London's School Streets scheme to include 200 more roads
Vehicles will be banned from 200 more roads outside schools at certain times under the mayor's plan.

It may not be illegal, but it's certainly underhand and designed to mislead.

57% of vapers are more likely to buy vapes from a store if they provide recycling drop-off points. "It should be as easy to recycle a vape as it is to buy one. We want more vapers demanding that the places where they buy them also provide recycling points".

“There is only one party leader,” [Starmer] went on, “who has shown he will say anything, no matter how divisive, if he’s paid to do so.” At this he sat down, leaving Lindsay Hoyle to rise to call the next speaker, and inadvertently deliver the punchline: “Nigel Farage!”

Everyone is analysing the implications of the byelection for Keir Starmer and Labour but the most important lessons are for democracy - my latest for @instituteforgovernment.org.uk www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/comment/gort...

A poor show, ‪@eurostarnews.bsky.social‬, that there's no food on the current train to London, just crisps and a few tinned drinks. My grandchildren, 5 and 3, will be hungry by the time they get to London. My family will fly next time.
